Holy crap, what a player. I'll take a guess and say around 4.5 million? A bargain, as Scaly said.
Sold to Ladbroke Rovers for only 3.6m, can't believe he went so cheap. If I had known he was going to go for that much I would've made sure I had the funds available, was expecting him to go for 4m at least. I hope Ladbrokes don't ask me for a rematch. :p

Wow andy, didn't realise Canning was that good. Are you going to ease up on his training next season or keep training him heavily for another season?

Well, he's very low strong as well. Am planning to keep him on his current netting (2 bat, 2 bowl, one fitness/field that alternates with each pop) until he's 20, although I may up it a bit by the latter half of next season. Then I figure I might as well just leave him on a fielding net from 20 onwards.

Edit: Just realised that, with the exception of competent bat number 7 captain, my first eleven is now all resp+. Yay me.

Ladbroke got him? ffs.

No pops :(
Haha, I don't really care how good Ladbrokes get as long as they don't migrate to WI.

Didn't manage to sell Louis, but did get some decent offers which I will consider if anyone good is listed on the market. Louis is a bit annoying, most of the time against good teams he only manages 1 or 2 for 50-odd but occasionally destroys a batting lineup, though not often enough for my liking.

Gun, how many nets do you give him? Whatever it is it isn't enough...

Just going back to the experience issue brought up a while ago, it's interesting to note the difference between Griffin and Sutton. I pulled Griffin toward the latter half of my first season as an 18 year old (he's 20 now) when he had abysmal experience, and he's pretty much been carrying my batting since then. I have had Sutton since my first day, and he was also 18 (so 20 now), and started with worthless experience. Some stats:

Griffin: 30 games, 28 innings, 2061 @ 171.75, 10 100's, 8 50's
Sutton: 46 games, 32 innings, 1281 @ 58.23, 4 100's, 7 50's

Griffin, however, has gone from abysmal to feeble (that's +2) experience. Sutton's only gone from worthless to abysmal (+1), despite having more innings and way more games. So it definitely does seem that milestones, or at least playing well, has an effect on experience.

Most successful couple of weeks for me, on and off the BT field. I've been in Amsterdam for my stag do, and managed to negotiate four days of eighteen hour drinking without hospitalisation and/or serious illness, adopted a tramp for the week, made the princely sum of 4 Euros by busking in a thong, grass skirt, bra and policeman's helmet, and thrust ah…Um how can I put this?… a plastic man's part in the wrong hole of a stripper - Very long story, but basically my so-called mates got me up on stage in a strip joint, and I was supposed to insert the aforementioned member into the good lady, from whence she'd fire it into the audience via a super-human flexing of her abdominal muscles. Except being the hapless klutz that I am, my aim was unfortunately a little too low! Upon which she vocally expressed her discomfort and annoyance, and I learnt several new and colourful phrases of Dutch! - And that's where I'll end this story, except to offer by way of mitigation that it was all down to blindness and not at all to do with sadism.

BT events can't quite live up to the obscurity of that, but have been nonetheless equally successful. In my absence The Gurs have enjoyed three routine victories, as well as edging out a very close encounter against Blue Roister Cult in the Blind Cricket Cup, to more or less guaranty me second place - All the more satisfying as I was convinced I was going to lose it before I went, and so didn't bother setting any specific orders for the match!

11/11 in the league, NRR of 41.8, which currently has me 58th in the promotion table. I think I'll look to be a lot more aggressive in my three remaining matches, to try and secure a more favourable league in Div IV. Although that's potentially a dangerous game to play, because if you swap places with a team who's been thrashed in most of their games, it may not be because they were crap, it could equally be because everyone else in their league was mint?!?

Today was hopefully the first in a bumper three weeks of training updates, with Greening becoming The Gurs' first ever Qual player. After the end-of-season fat camp, I'll switch him from two batting nets to one batting and one fielding. Hitherto I've held off giving him fielding nets, because he's already Prof fielding, which is more than good enough, and I don't really want to pay the wages on any better than that - But now the time has come for me to finally bite the bullet, as he's only Feeb Conc, which is badly hampering his performances, and will only get worse in Div IV and FC. In the next one to three weeks there'll also be pops for Noon, to Prof Bat, Bennett, to Prof Bat, Staveley, to Sup Bat, Bewers, to Sup Bowl and Bridges M to Sup Bowl. I'm hoping that my team now will be in a much better position to pose a serious threat in div IV. Mind you, does seem as though it's pretty much down to the luck of the draw, as I had a better Div IV last year than my mate's Div III this season.

Things have ground to a halt with the youth academy, as I have 42 ITS in the bank, and no means of allocating them. The thing is that my speech software doesn't work with the graphical interface jobbies you use to put ITS on a particular discipline. Up until now my Fiancé's been doing it for me, but our broad-band's gone down at home and shows no sign of getting fixed any time soon. I'm too frightened of asking any of my colleagues to help just in case I open Pandora's box, and they uncover what a monumental amount of my employer's time I waste between BT and CW! So I was wondering if someone trust-worthy on here would mind logging on to my account and pulling an YP for me? - Preferably Adam, as he's a MOD, but definitely not Aussie Dominance, as he'd flog all my players to his brother:-) Although I'm not sure if BT alarm-bells would start ringing if I suddenly logged on from an IP address hundreds, if not thousands of miles away from where I'd been five minutes before? Perhaps Adam is the only person who could do it. If you wouldn't mind, let me know your E-mail address, and I'll send you my username and password, although you could probably find them out for yourself? I'd like 11 Bat, 11 Bowl, 3 Stam, 4 Conc, 4 Cons and 2 Field.

Well, that's all for now, later, Trev
