So again has anyone trained a 17yo in batting or bowling combined with fielding? How long did they take to pop in concentration/consistency?

PY

International Coach
I was training Moodley in 2 batting nets and one fielding and it took him 7 weeks but he aged to 18yo during that process so that may have distorted it somewhat.

Well the good news is that he's a week or two at most from reaching strong batting, the bad news is that it will take 20-24 weeks of stamina training just to get him to mediocre, which IMO is a minimum if you intend to keep him for a long time. Personally I'd never buy someone with worthless stamina unless they're really good in other stats, it's just a complete waste of nets (for comparison you could use those 24 weeks of nets to get two primary pops instead). It will take ages for his stamina to reach a level where he's regularly scoring centuries against decent opposition, but since his primary is high you could consider training him for profit.

Sounds good Adam, I might just do that actually...I hear Strong's usually fetch a good price on the market.

Just pulled this guy:

Suryakant Hitish - 17 yo, BT Rating=6,452
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, fresh
A destructive player with respectable leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: respectable Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: feeble Consistency: respectable
Fielding: worthless

I'm kicking myself for not putting anything on his bowling. First week of the season I pulled this guy:

Lalit Govender - 17 yo, BT Rating=4,429
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, proficient batting form, respectable bowling form, lively
A steady player with proficient leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: mediocre
Batting: mediocre Concentration: feeble
Bowling: feeble Consistency: worthless
Fielding: worthless

Not sure what to do with training now with Swagat, Govender and Hitish.

I'm listing Govender (hopefully I'll get about 10k for him) and putting 5 nets on Moodley (3xbowling, 1xfielding, 1xbatting) and 5 nets on Hitish (3xbatting, 1xfielding, 1xfitness).

Nope, a waste in my opinion. Never buy players with anything below feeble stamina IMO, unless they have really good primaries & secondaries, and are going cheap.

I think it is if you've got plenty of net space. A low proficient-woeful bat with woeful stamina would sell for over 120k normally and that's equivalent to this player in terms of how many nets it takes to get them to the same standard. 2 nets all season and you'll have a superb-feeble bat with feeble stamina, so about around 30 nets to increase the value from 120k to 800k or more - like I say it all depends on what your nets are like. If your nets are taken up by mediocres and competents then it's good, if your team is now at a stage where you're training a minimum of respectable then it's debatable.

Ive got two batting nets, and a one fielding net free. Though I'm training my two 18 yr old strong's, and my twenty yr old respectable.

My first league match tomorrow, so a look at my team.

Pete Carrington - Aussie opener, came in last season, will be looking to get in a very good season this year. I've not made a decision about if he'll be opening in FC next season, he's only got feeble stamina, and others like Gowshall could fill the gap.

Ken Nix - Another aquisition last season, got his season off to a great start on Sunday, with an unbeaten century. Is a very useful option in V, but if we get promoted soon, he may not be up to the challenge.

Hamid Gowshall - No longer the allstar of the 999ers, and it's tight between him and Aldred for the best batsman crown, but he still forms a crucial part of the batting order, coming in at Number 3, and providing crucial innings. Like Nix, made a big start to season IV on Sunday.

Maurice Aldred - The best allrounder the 999ers have ever had, Aldred's role at Number 4 is not consistent, as he does drop down the order on occasion to perform as a pure bowler to save fitness. One of the best batsman we have, and his bowling is developing constantly. And he's only 20.

Sufyan Field* - The captain of the 999ers, and a fierce batsman, his place may not be secure for much longer, as he and Angelo Dilhan's places are under threat. A slightly better batsman than Dilhan, as he tends to go on to bigger innings, and make less small scores, Field may find his place secure for now, but the academy may have fresh talent for the first team soon, and rumour has it that Pete Carrington's captaincy skills are up there with Field's. Time will tell

Part 2 coming soon...

I swear fitness recovery times have been tweaked, Watkins was previously gaining a level every two days, now it's every four days. Really annoying as it means he'll only be fresh for today's game, was hoping he'd be at invigorated. Won't be able to use him to bowl then, hoping he at least retains enough of his skill to bat fairly well at no. 3. I might be buying another bowler before today's match which should allow me to get away with not bowling Watkins.

Anyway, the only players worth mentioning from my team:

Fitz Watkins - 20 yo, BT Rating=79,654 (remarkable bat, strong bowl)
World record signing, probably my best batsman and hopefully best bowler by the end of the season. Struggling with fitness at the moment but when he recovers he should be pretty impressive.

Sol Cuss - 22 yo, BT Rating=33,106 (remarkable bat)
Very solid batsman, will probably not have any international duties to worry about this season so should play a much greater part this time round. Will open the batting as often as possible.

Ricky Louis - 23 yo, BT Rating=28,735 (remarkable bowl)
My main bowler at the moment, another big signing from last season. Should be my main wicket-taker, but will have his work cut out in a division full of gun batsmen.

Vimesh Malik - 20 yo, BT Rating=31,620 (strong bowl, competent bat)
Solid allrounder, hasn't really performed as well as he should have in his career to date but has shown signs of improving. Shoulders the burden of being the only spinner in the side, as well as being captain.

Shaun Wynand - 19 yo, BT Rating=18,864 (superb bat)
Decent batsman on paper but has a penchant for failing against anyone half-decent. Loves racking up the 150+ scores against bots though. Will open the batting with Cuss for most of the season, but needs to show some dramatic improvement.

George Ashton - 18 yo, BT Rating=10,940 (prof bat, prof WK)
WK/batsman trainee, nothing special at the moment but will be consistently trained for a few seasons and should turn out well.

ash chaulk

International Captain
Viveash

Neil Blewitt - 22 yo, BT Rating=10,858 Competent Bat
He bats at number 3 with a career average of 66 from 50 matches not a high Primary but consistant enough to be called one of my best.

David Elvins - 20 yo, BT Rating=31,429 Respectable Bat
Mainly a trainee last year reaching quality secondaries came out and blasted 195 in the last game of the season. Backed it up scoring 161 in the first cup game.

Andy Wainwright - 29 yo, BT Rating=16,021 Prof Bat Com Bowl Captain
Mr Wainwright is our rock he bats he bowls he captains hes just scored his H/S in his career (140) averages 21 with the ball after 56 matches the best for my squad.

Wayne Beevers - 25 yo, BT Rating=8,702 prof bowl
Beevo is the spinner in the team has played every game for the club and has taken 91 wickets in his career he should be the first to make it too the 100 club for my club.

Avery Elsegood - 20 yo, BT Rating=16,992 Respectable Bat, Proficient Bowl
Best player in my team. Bats at 4 and opens the bowling. When his fitness goes up I'll push him up to 3.

Wolde Wilmers - 20 yo, BT Rating=10,600 Competent Bat
Opens at no 2. Makes runs agianst decent teams. Hasn't been tested against anything good though so we'll see how he goes this season against such. He's got proficient concentration.

Carlton Groves - 26 yo, BT Rating=8,417 Competent Bowl
My best spinner. He's got proficient consistency.

There are a couple other decent players including my captain who's a spinner and my other opening bowler. Currently rebuilding my team with youth.

Wow wot a great start for my team in Div 4. Just bowled them out for 175 in 48 overs after they won the toss and elected to bat on a green pitch. Westhead taking career best figures with 6/38 off 9 overs. I better not get too ****y yet because if Kennedy or Jayasuriya get out early it could get tight.

Batted first on a hard & fast pitch.

Robertinho Select XI 3/301 from 50 overs
Gray 121 (124)
Mcmillan 117 (134)

He has two gun bats, so hopefully I can remove one of them and the rest will tumble. Not very happy that Mcmillan faced 134 balls - won't be good for his already fragile PFL.
