With six psychologists, Staveley and Bewers, who're receiving two primary nets seem to be having a secondary pop every four weeks or so. It's about the same for Patel who's getting one batting and one Stam net. Greening, with two batting, one Stam and one fielding had one Conc Pop in his first week, and has now gone three weeks with nothing. So, in my experience of 17/19yos at least, it seems to me that the difference a fielding net makes to secondaries is reasonably negligible, although I stand to be corrected. I'd say it seems to be that the rate of increase is linked somehow to the number of nets of any kind which the player is receiving?
Fwww! V.glad I listened to you Andyc and Gotspin, and didn't waste any ITS on my Yp, as I got one who's Wor in everything apart from Comp Conc and Abs fielding. Had I sunk my 18 ITS into him, I'd have been looking at someone with say Woe Stam, Med Bat and Prof Conc. Better than a late-night phone call from Shane Warne but not much use to me in my current predicament. Although I am a little bit worried about whether we're certain that ITS are going to be carried over into next season. Given that BT has a nasty habit of resetting things like Morale and fitness at the end of the season, I wouldn't put it past them to wipe the IT board clean in order to level the playing field?
I don't really have a hard and fast policy on whether I'm going to train any Yps, just kind'a depends on who I pull and who I decide to buy in the future. I guess the very rough rule of thumb I'll employ is if they can become better than what's currently in my starting CI, with no more than two, or an absolute maximum of three nets, then I'll bother training them - If not, then I'll either play them as is, if required, or flog them for however much I can get.
Apart from 19yo Patel, who I'm going to turf out as soon as he reaches Prof Bat Comp Stam, I'm not in a mad rush to change my nets. Bewers, two bowling nets, is only 18yo, 2/3 of the way up Prof Bowl, and Med Stam Comp Cons. I think I'll leave him be until he reaches Strong or turns 19yo, which ever's the latter, then I'll switch one of his nets to a Stam. I was going to do the same with Staveley, Strong Bat, Feeb Stam, Comp Conc, but he's a year older, so I'm not so sure now. His Stam does need to improve before FC, but at 19yo, I guess he's only got a limited life-expectancy for useful primary training, so half of me wants to make the most of the time I've got left with two batting nets, and worry about his Stam some time in the future.
I'm going to list 19yo Atherton-Ham, Resp Spinner, Abs Stam, Feeb Cons, and 22yo Burke, Resp RF, Woe Stam and Cons, for £150K a piece and see if I can get a bite. I know they're not worth that, but stranger things have happened. If I can get any interest in them, then I'll use the funds, plus a bit more perhaps, to invest in one better bowler with decent Stam, ahead of FC. I've been kidding myself that those two could be tidy players, if only I could get around to sorting their Stam issues out, but realistically I need the nets for better players and I'm never going to do much with them.
What do you think? Later, Trev.
