I saw that guy on the transfer list before, his stats are/were:

Marvin Frecklington
Plays for: Newcastle Knights
Age: 18 years old
BT Rating: 55,603

Stamina: respectable W/Keeping: respectable
Batting: feeble Concentration: exquisite
Bowling: abysmal Consistency: strong
Fielding: woeful

Just shows the uselessness of BTR in determining a player's worth, as it weights all stats equally.

As ever someone paid out 400k for them... oh dear.

I don't know, how about waiting until the wage update then giving him 5 batting sessions? He'd be a demi-god by the end of the season wouldn't he?

I doubt it, they would only be either competent or respectable when they hit 20.

Could have bought a respectable/proficient 17yo for that money and have someone miles better (and younger) by the end of next season.

The all-rounder may go for a few bob though starting 'em off at 6000 is a tad dilly.

Anyone game for a friendly against a rather fatigued (read utterly knackered) Indian side tomorrow? Don't care whether it's home or away cos I'll get beat whatever happens. :)

Cheers Marc, set everything to V. Attacking for the game so hoping someone can go out with a bang this season. :)

Anyone not been allowed to make their YP this week?

Team fitness level and morale have been reset... should be interesting to see what ratings I get against Jamee tomorrow. Dunno if the individual fitnesses will be implemented or what (mine are all at the top 2 levels)... guess we'll find out soon enough.

this new academy system, my academy is superb at the moment, presumably this will be carried forward into the new system somehow

Yes, my vague memory is that I think you get a higher maximum number of intensive thingies to spend on youth pulls, like you would get nearly 50 and someone with a worthless academy would get nearer 20. Could be wrong tho, can't remember where all the details are.

Nice 180k prizemoney there, much-needed since I was in a bit of debt.

Just noticed one of the teams in my league next season just spent over a million on a 19yo superb bowler, and he's got at least one other superb bowler in his team already. As well as an 18yo Indian WK/batsman who is actually better than the WK in India's U19 and national teams, but they don't want him for some reason.

What a strange start I've made against Halsey's team
The first over went for 9, the second for 1, the third for 15, and the fourth for 2.

End of Over 4: 27-0, runrate=6.75
Hines 2-0-3-0
Griffin* 8 (16 balls)
Nomvete 14 (9 balls)

Edit: Sped up a bit now

End of Over 6: 44-1, runrate=7.33
Hines 3-0-12-1
Kenna* 8 (4 balls)
Griffin 15 (21 balls)

Interesting with the fitness/morale being reset, I think a few teams might see their ratings drop several levels. I've got 21 players in my squad at the moment so I can play an almost-complete second XI in my friendly today (only using one first XI player, my 'keeper), albeit a fairly crap one (mainly competents, one mediocre and a few respectables).

I want to sell some players so I can get a bit of money to buy a strong/superb bowler or batsman with decent secondaries and stamina, i.e. someone who I don't have to train any further. The main problem is that there aren't many players like that on the transfer market (there are no strong/competent/competent+ batsmen or bowlers on there at the moment) so even if I had the money it'll be hard to get one. There's a 19yo strong/strong/mediocre batsman currently on the market, but he's probably only just popped to strong so I'll hold out for someone better.

ok so let me get this straight our new youth academy will give us the option of buying points to make youth players how we want?

I'm really unclear about the new youth academy, I'm just gonna wait for the season to start and then try and figure it out
