I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Tharmi, you'd make a great manager. However, if you make an application, make sure everything is correct with grammar and spelling etc. You'll have more chance of winning :)

his secondaries aren't going to rise very quickly unless you add a fielding net i'm afraid. but even then, with 3 nets his PFL will be effected so maybe it'd be better to add a fitness net as well.
Haha, I actually put him on a fielding net as well just before coming here and seeing your post! I must slowly be getting the hang of this.

Do you guys reckon i should run for Sri Lankan U19 post, You reckon i would have much chance?
Yes. You know about the game, would be a committed U19 manager, and would definitely get my vote...if I was in the SL league!

Training-wise, Sandwith to Sensational concentration (now Excep/Sensat batting) and Gibb to Remarkable bowling (Remark/Qual cautious RFM).

That reminds me -- I'll put Verma on the transfer list today, which'll leave me with four bowlers.

oh and just another quickie - is there anything to suggest that the 'sort by' options in the squad pages take into account sublevels? The player above (Fortune) appears lower down the (worthless) list in stamina after recieving two fitness nets.
Nope, from what I read on the Sledging: it sorts by skill, then by playerID or name.

Heh. It did originally sort by player sub-levels, which was why it was taken off the "viewing another team's squad" page. I thought it was taken off your own page as well...hadn't realised it had made a comeback.

Presumably, it's been fixed now.

Solid but unspectacular progress in the Cup, with all the stars rested.

Dynamo Manchester 153 A/O (46), Green 38, Pearce 35, Bent 4/29, Edworthy 4/32
Cymru Gurgitaters 154/3 (36), Mohammed 68 (90), Cash 46* (65)

My second round opponents have a smattering of Profs and Strongs, but nothing too scary, so fingers crossed it'll be another TIE win. I'll recall Staveley and Bewers, who're only on one net each, but continue to rest Greening, Noon and Wilde who're all on two nets, and Carlton who only has Feeb Stam.

Two pops, bowling for Bewers and batting for Mohammed:

Gene Bewers (326242)
LH Batsman, LM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A cautious player with strong leadership skills and woeful experience.
Plays For: Cymru Gurgitaters
Nationality: Australia
Age: 22 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 27,333 (+429)
Wages: £8,488 p/w
*Stamina: competent Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: feeble Concentration: feeble
Bowling: remarkable Consistency: strong
Fielding: mediocre

Frank Mohammed (1124565)
LH Batsman, LFM Bowler, competent batting form, strong bowling form, sublime
A steady player with strong leadership skills and worthless experience.
Plays For: Cymru Gurgitaters
Nationality: New Zealand
Age: 20 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 7,638 (+532)
Wages: £1,814 p/w
Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: strong Concentration: feeble
Bowling: woeful Consistency: woeful
Fielding: mediocre

Bewers will trundle along on one net for this season and the next, by which time he'll be in the region of Exc/Qual, But for Mohammed the training is over! I was resigned to keeping him on a net until something better came along, but now it has! In the shape of my first decent YP for three seasons!

Matthew Akhtar (1282894)
LH Batsman, LH Spin Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, fresh
A destructive player with worthless leadership skills and worthless experience.
Plays For: Cymru Gurgitaters
Nationality: England
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 3,479
Wages: £654 p/w
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: competent Concentration: feeble
Bowling: worthless Consistency: worthless
Fielding: abysmal

Doesn't look all that at first glance, but, judging by his wages, he'll hit Resp next update, and he should only be a few weeks behind Andy's Ronald McDonald chap! I'll put him on one batting net for the time being, and when Carlton pops to Sup bowl in three or four weeks, I'll switch that net to Batting and give it to young Akhtar as well. He'll be half way, if not more, up Prof by the end of the season, when I'll add a fielding net, then something like High Sup/Comp by 19, and Wand/Strong by 20!

My team for the forthcoming season:
1. Staveley, 23Yo - Qual/Strong Bat (1X Bat) <Rem any week now!>
2. Greening, 22YO - Wond/Strong Bat, (2X Bat)
3+. Noon, 22YO - Strong/Qual Bat, Strong WK (1X Bat, 1X WK), <Pretty close to Sup Bat and WK>
4*. Patel, 23YO - Strong/Resp Bat, Sup/med Lead
5. Mohammed, 20YO - Strong/Feeb Bat
6B4. Cash, 32YO - Resp/Sup Bat, Strong/Prof LHS
7. Qureshi, 29YO - Prof/Resp Bat
8B2. Bewers, 22YO - Feeb/Feeb Bat, Rem/Strong LM (1X Bowl)
9B1. Wilde, 19YO - Feeb/Feeb Bat, Strong/Comp RM, (2X Bowl), < About 3 Weeks off Sup>
10B5. Carlton, 23YO - Strong/Resp LFM, (1X Bowl), <3/4 Weeks from Sup>
11B3. Bridges M, 24YO - Sup/Prof RHS
12. Akhtar, 17YO - Comp/Feeb Bat (1X Bat) <V.close to Resp Bat, will get another net before long!>

That's it for now, Trev

The Sri Lankan Divison One Champion just applied for the post. :( He got 22 posts in his thread in a couple hours and i only got one and made mine before him. Oh well, maybe i'll apply next time and i might have more chance if i become a respected Divison Two manager.

Is Whambo still top dog over there?

He's an...interesting...chap. Nice enough once you get to know him, but he can definitely take some getting used to.

Nah Tommytuck (Howzat Ladyboys) is the new king pin in Sri Lanka. Im not too worried, as i was looking at the role for more in two seasons time. But i get the feeling he might grow into the role by them and it will be hard to take of him, oh well.

Hey PY, what's that guy you just bought like?
Needs a bit of work on his stamina but I've been informed that he's more than half way to exquisite (and had two nets last week) so thought it was worth the 9m I paid. Going to net him 'til he reaches exquisite then switch it to fitness and kill him for a season on that, then will see whether I need to improve his secondaries or not and what his wages are like.

He's perfect for me really because his wages aren't horrific because his secondaries aren't ridiculous.

Personally I'd get his stamina and secondaries up ASAP if you've got the nets to spare (stamina first if you've only got one), the wage increase from those will be negligible compared to the increase from his primary. Presumably if you trained him up another level his wages would be lower than Downer's (who is high-exquisite) at 52k - in fact there's a masterful/superb on the market whose wages are 56k. I don't think you'll need to worry about wages at all since no one else in your squad is particularly demanding, and if FC ever comes in you'll pretty much double your gate receipts.

PY

Hmm, I only really have the one net so I guess the stamina will have to be done first, though I wanted to get the pop to exquisite done first. I got a bit of the transfer market rage & spent more than I hoped so trying to make it more worth the money!

Adamc

Well, I meant if you had a free net in addition to the bowling net, obviously get the bowling done first as it's age dependent while stamina isn't. Although I don't know what his stamina level is, if it's below say mediocre then it's probably worth prioritising that to get a more immediate performance benefit.

What level of stamina do you guys think an 18 yo prof/comp needs?

My trainee star player is:

Chris Toney (1137089)
RH Batsman, LH Spin Bowler, strong batting form, strong bowling form, invigorated
A destructive player with woeful leadership skills and woeful experience.

Plays For: LionsXI CC
Nationality: England
Age: 18 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 7,676
Wages: £1,386 p/w
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: proficient Concentration: competent
Bowling: worthless Consistency: abysmal
Fielding: abysmal

When do you think I should change his stamina net into a fielding net, to help his concentration along?

Medicore is the min. for any player really. Respectable you tend to notice a difference in performance. Superb is what you need to if a player is gun. But really it depends on how far you want to get his stamina up to, mediocre fine for the moment. Probably could be handy to get his conc on par with his primary. Once you have done that then give him back the stamina net.
