Probably my most pleasing win since I started playing.

Facing such a tricky middle period against the opponents 2 bowlers of note, my tactics meant I didn't lose wickets in a huge pile and was able to bat out 50 overs with a much higher score than I expected.

Then the bowling kept it tight when needed and the stranglehold lead to them needing too many runs at the end and losing wickets in an attempt to get there.

The team ratings suggest I had a good strategy in place:

East London Iruns AA for President!
Top Order: proficient competent
Middle Order: mediocre mediocre
Lower Order: abysmal woeful
Seam Bowling: proficient competent
Spin Bowling: useless mediocre
Fielding: mediocre feeble

One of those teams where the ratings mislead somewhat, they've got 1 gun bowler and 1 good bowler who are both medium pacers and 3 complete rubbish bowlers. Weather was sunny so that nullified the medium pacers somewhat. Their batting is just dross plus a gun and a good bat with low stamina.

We'll see how well those orders and strategy work in the CW cup.

Funny how not so long ago you moaned that the game was fixed so the better ratings would win regardless and I disagreed.

Now you're changing your tune somewhat...

And which of the bowlers averaging 7 or so this season is only "good" then?

Yeah, I tried a couple, but they didn't work. I work for a software company - they know what they're doing!

It's unusual for software development companies to block sites, apart from dodgy ones obviously. Still, it's not quite enough to make me leave!
Haha yeah, sounds a bit weird.

How are you doing, anyway?
Being in Australia, my game had finished looong ago. Got crap ratings, but I had a TIE win, so all's good

The engine has changed since then, thankfully. That bowler is only superb with good consistency, that's good but not gun bowler standard. As for the average that's not particularly surprising when a team of your standard is as high as 5th in that division, also I've got a prof-superb who's leading my division averages with 20 @ 8.10 and I wouldn't say he's anything more than decent really (he'll be my 6th bowler on skills alone shortly)

Clutha Valley CC reached 275-4 off their allocated overs. Graeme Bittner top scoring with an excellent captains knock of 107, good support from Nelson Lloyd who got 94. Dave Makgale contributed some good late innings hitting with 37 off 29. Derek Khotsofalang currently has 2-30 off 5 overs and Warlock 0-23 off 6. Need the bowlers to tighten things up a bit.

Won pretty easily yesterday:

Pebble Street CC 158/10 (45.2 overs)
Whitehorne 4-8 (8), Harewood 3-28 (7.2), Watkins 1-23 (10)

Asterix XI 161-2 (35.3 overs)
Cuss 72* (100), Malik 43 (55), Ashton 34* (48)

Decent debut for Harewood although two of the wickets were tailenders. Whitehorne and Watkins were both rather economical. Seam bowling went up a level, not really sure if that's because of the addition of Harewood or because it was a PAN. Fielding also went up, which might've been because of Harewood as well as he has respectable fielding.
Code:
	        [B]Asterix XI Pebble Street CC[/B]
Top Order: proficient strong
Middle Order: quality competent
Lower Order: woeful worthless
Seam Bowling: strong superb
Spin Bowling: exquisite respectable
Fielding: mediocre feeble
Still stuck in fifth, though I'm only 4 points away from 2nd and have a 12 point lead over 6th. Got NorCricket next week who are currently 7 from 7 and likely to win the cup as well.

A team of my standard?

What sort of comment is that meant to be?
