It's happening pretty quickly too. Though my wonderful bowler still managed to leak 13 in an over against some tail-enders...

And as I type, Bardle rips out 3 more.

Then Sekani gets hit for more boundaries....but he has the last laugh. Almost there now.

Meh, lost the toss and am bowling against a team with crappy bowling, no experience/average boosting for my batsmen. They're 8-1, Summers took the wicket.

Just got this guy for 1.1mill, pretty happy with that considering his age. So I've still got about 800k to sit on and I've got a bowler to train to remarkable. Looks a pretty low strong, but considering prices atm it's a good deal.

My 2nd wave bowlers doing a surprisingly good job for once, conceding less than 3 an over and Preece just took out their two in-batsmen in 3 balls.

Preece 4-0-14-2

Pegging back the third-placed team in my league on a flat pitch:

End of Over 20: 65-2, runrate=3.25
Pead 5-0-16-0
Mcaliskey* 17 (19 balls)
Crompton 29 (69 balls)

They've got a long but undistinguished batting lineup, and not great bowling. Will hope to bowl them out, but not too panicked if I don't at this rate of scoring (he typed, as they take 7 off an over...).

118/2 at the halfway point of my innings. Reed and McGregor are doing a passable impression of Jayawardene and Sangakkara, having each just passed 50 off 60-odd balls.

Looking decent at the moment, anyway -- it's a greentop, so my bowlers should do alright, and my opponent's batting is slightly worse than mine.

Blockfest in my game, all their decent batsmen are out and it's just competents or whatever on very defensive. Partnership has added 17 off 10 overs.

142/3 off 32 for me now. McGregor out, so Sandwith and Reed have been brought together once more.

I'd be happy to get 250. Well, happy-ish.

UPDATE: Reed and Sandwith have stayed in and are creaming the slog overs -- now 272/3 from 48. 280 should be more than enough on this pitch :)

Knocked my opponents over for just over 200, Wilde and Oleary running rampant. Ish. Pead still having an absolute shocker of a season, though. Ah well.

End of Over 50: 203-10, runrate=4.06
Oleary 9-0-39-4
Wilde 10-0-46-4
Sheffield* 5 (8 balls)

Ended up setting them 290, with the customary six singles off the last over.

Just checked the other matches in my league -- looks as though the top two teams are creaming their opposition as well. With the top four teams all on 24pts, NRR is looking pretty important right now.

Played a bot today, won fairly easierly in the end.

Sandringham 178 All Out Dowdall 3/53(10), Jeithoon 2/20(7), Sishayi 2/44(10)

lost to

Jaffna Jets 0/181 (33.2) Clayton 85(95), Lucas 87(106)

Ratings were Proficient/Competent Batting and Respectable/Competent Bowling on TIE. Clayton scored his 2,500th run for the club only the 3rd player achieve this feat. His now 99 runs away from taking over from Ellis as the leading run scorer. Also Clayton scored his 1000th run for the season, the quickest anyone from my team has reached that mark in a season. He really is starting to make the most of his first full season opening the batting. Turning into a fair gun.

Crap, I could be in danger of collapsing here. Janes just picked a crap time for his first failure of the season, and while I've got two batsmen who should be capable of taking me home, I've got absolutely nothing to come after them. Eek.

End of Over 26: 139-4, runrate=5.35, reqrunrate=2.71 (203-10)
Gerrie 3-0-11-2
Ganfield* 1 (3 balls)

My opponents are batting much better than I expected -- they're 116/2 off 28, chasing 290/3.

Plenty of wickets left (and they sometimes hit Superb middle order), but the RRR's at 7.95 and climbing steadily.
