And another donkey gets a strong-quality

Alex Munroe (245853)
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, superb batting form, respectable bowling form, changeable
A cautious player with competent leadership skills and woeful experience.

Plays For: Beermonsters
Nationality: England
Age: 29 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 6,640
Wages: £1,067 p/w

This is so far beyond a joke.

Tom Halsey

International Coach
It's quite funny actually; usually the bot teams don't even play what should be their best bowlers. I saw one the other day that had a 20k BTR bowler and a 10k one (even on worthless form), and yet the five bowlers it sticks out were all <3k, and none of the guns played at all. Dunno what passes for "AI" with those teams, but I think it involves some yoghurt that's been left in the sun for a bit.

I'm not complaining, means I'll be in Div V next season, just need to do the necessary work so that I'll be competitive there.

What exactly are you complaining about here? What's up with this player?

That was the player that got my strong-quality out. Armstrong was gotten out by a dire competent. I had remarkable-prof 5 overs, quality-med 7 overs, strong-wonderful 10 overs, prof-exceptional 8 overs not take a single wicket in the first 40 against their strong top order. They've taken 4 wickets in the first 40 against my quality top order and prof middle order and they only get competent seam bowling. Last week I took no wickets in the first 40 with the same bowlers against proficient top order.

Dead Badger

State 12th Man
Proper squeaky bum time at the Bearded Pavilion; 6 an over required from the last 10 overs and my batsmen seem determined to do it at *precisely* six an over. Augh!

Only one wicket from a tail that something with a crap tail would be proud of, too.

Kweek

Cricketer Of The Year
End of Over 44: 192-5, runrate=4.36, reqrunrate=10.83 (256-9)
Burley 10-0-51-0
Kemp* 80 (104 balls)
Grewcock 21 (17 balls)
Last Wicket: Tomlinson c. Bell b. Powell 6 (FOW: 147/5)

Kweek

Cricketer Of The Year
44.3 W Mcsporran to Freedman
Big appeal for LBW. It looked like he got an inside edge, but he's been given out! Oooh, he's not happy with that one!
44.2 W Mcsporran to Grewcock
Through the gap; Grewcock was all at sea. Superb bowling from Mcsporran.

****ing collapses.

The Baconator

International Vice-Captain
Never set my orders today, so lost a game I might've won had I GFI'd. Bowling was better than usual, actually got ten wickets. Batting was fairly average, Umar carried his bat for 82 as I go strong top order, but no one else got many.

Kweek

Cricketer Of The Year
45.6 W Morris to Wotton
Hooked off his nose. That should have gone all the way, but a brilliant one-handed dive in the outfield sent him on his way!
45.5 W Morris to Graham
Morris made a mess of the batsman's stumps there, I think he'd be happy to clean them up though.
45.4 4 Morris to Graham
Creamed through cover for four! That was far too full and there was width outside the off stump as well. Graham leant into it and drove it through the covers beautifully.
45.3 . Morris to Graham
Very full, almost yorker length, and Graham drives. The ball squirts to gully who makes a great stop.
45.2 . Morris to Graham
That was just too quick! He really didn't know what to do with that.
45.2 nb. Morris to Graham
no ball, That bat looked straighter than a Roman road! No way through for Morris with that delivery.
45.1 1 Morris to Kemp
Slapped down to long on for the single.

End of Over 45: 196-8, runrate=4.36, reqrunrate=12.20 (256-9)
Mcsporran 8-0-42-3
Kemp* 81 (105 balls)
Graham 0 (0 balls)
Last Wicket: Badley c. Butterfield b. Mcsporran 2 (FOW: 196/8)
44.6 W Mcsporran to Badley
Marvellous delivery that! Mcsporran drew Badley into the shot and a thick outside edge is well taken at first slip.
44.5 . Mcsporran to Badley
Outside off stump and Badley leaves it alone. Mcsporran comes down the pitch and glares but Badley just sticks his tongue out.
44.4 2 Mcsporran to Badley
Beautiful cover drive. The sweeper comes round and, after a fine stop on the boundary, manages to keep it down to two.
44.4 wd Mcsporran to Badley
That's well down the leg side by Mcsporran. Ford had to dive but got a fingertip to the ball, saving a certain boundary. Terrible bowling, great keeping.
44.1 1 Mcsporran to Kemp
On the front foot, flicked to deep square leg for the single.

Duncan Fletcher?

It was looking pretty bad for me an hour ago:

End of Over 42: 171-4, runrate=4.07, reqrunrate=3.87 (201-10)
Gibb 6-1-13-0
Quinn* 74 (119 balls)
Cornwall 5 (12 balls)
Last Wicket: Stock c. Gonasilan b. John 34 (FOW: 156/4)

Hirst comes on, grabs a hattrick, and I'm on top:

End of Over 48: 187-8, runrate=3.90, reqrunrate=7.50 (201-10)
Gibb 9-1-21-0
Cornwall* 12 (23 balls)
Carbon 8 (20 balls)
Last Wicket: Lumsdon b. Hirst 0 (FOW: 171/8)

He couldn't have done it without my defensive trio putting the brakes on, though:

Gibb 8-1-17-0
John 10-1-30-1
Verma 10-1-39-1

UPDATE: Hirst gets his Michelle! 192/9 now, one over left, 9 runs needed for the tie...

Going in 10 minutes in case anyone feels like having a mid-quality bowler to train up.

Sold for 3.64m, happy with that. I could easily replace him with a better bowler for <3m if I wanted.

Nice. And to think I was pleased to see my middle order improve to "feeble" :). Huh; if ratings are anything to go by you've got a pretty decent shot at your division, haven't you?

I'm clearly not going to stay #1 (our demotee is too strong), but I'm beginning to think that with careful use of fitness, 2nd place is an achievable objective; it's looking a lot like it's between me and the guy who promoted into our division from VI.

Listed Bunn for 1m, cheap at that (he's had two/three fitness nets and not popped in stamina) he's obviously not a bottom of the level strong either.

On track to win at the moment, so long as there's no final overs capitulation. Cuss was run out first ball.

Adam I will go for that Summers if Sean Stock goes for too much. A bit depends on whether anyone will bid for Bunn when I list him.
Grr you and Slick both going for both players, looking increasingly unlikely that I'll get Summers. As long as I get someone in the next two weeks.
