So I suppose all the racist abuse SA and SL were subjected to was just a figment of my imagination. Compare this with the number of racial incidents in England games over the past few years - there are hardly any.
Source? How do you KNOW? I'll tell you - you don't. Stop pretending you do.

do you really think that racism in a country like the uk in a sporting environment would go unnoticed ? in football there has recently been a huge recent clampdown on such behaviour, if racism was to rear its ugly head in cricket then it would be instantly crushed and would not escape media coverage.

Oh right, so it's all just a conspiracy to paint Australia as being more racially intolerant than England. Fair enough...

I hope you're right. Experience, however, tells me that as per usual, it's just been swept under the carpet.

Nope - just saying it's impossible to know either way and to claim otherwise is lacking in credibility. Draw any conclusions you like; none of them will be credible.

being cynical, i would say that racism exits in the uk in cricket in a very small minority, but that would probably be the case anywhere in the world as there are always a few stupid individuals who will try to ruin the sport for others with this sort of behaviour, but there isnt any on a larger than small scale, it wouldnt avoid media attention.

Maybe not now that it's being patrolled Nazi-like. But like every fundamental human behaviour (i.e. distrust of people not like you), it will never be eradicated and pop-up in a new form.

Anyone else find it ironic that the one claiming there's no racism in England is the one with so many uncomplimentary views of non-English players and managers in the Football thread?

Anyone else find it interesting that the one who can't read statements properly is the same person who thinks someone is racist if they happen to dislike people who cheat, dive, pose around like idiots or are completely incompetent when it matters but just happen to be of a different nationality.

Interesting that Indians dislike the "rebel" south african tourists of the eighties... Does that mean that they hate South Africa even more? That would be logical..

I guess its because of England's colonial might, the fact that they invented the game and had some shocking tourists to the subcontinent in years gone by..

The hatred wasn't because England was racist, the hatred is because England is racist towards them (Gandhi era excluded of course...when SA was also controlled by the English). Maybe 20 years ago, they disliked South Africa...I doubt it now.

Which is why you've never criticised any of the English divers and cheaters and the English managers with far worse International records...

I think you'll find I have just as I criticise England players in the cricket, you just choose to blank the comments from your memory. I've said plenty of times Robbie Fowler is a flat track bully who has nothing going for him, I've said Alan Smith was complete rubbish and had an awful goals per game record before the attempt to turn him into a rubbish midfielder.

The point is if I was biased I wouldn't criticise any English players at all. The fact remains the worst divers in the premiership are foreign (Owen is the only one that comes close and he's injured most of the time anyway so he's not showcasing his talent week in week out like the CDMs) and since I've been on this site the only manager England have had is foreign - so why would I suddenly go on about past managers when it's not really of any interest?

Well after 1976 we regularly got stuffed by the west indians so i think we got used to losing against members of the commonwealth quickly
Between 1950 and 2000, England beat West Indies on just 4 occasions in 21 match-ups... even 1 of those can be discounted because of The Sobers Declaration... 3 series victories in 21!
Hopefully for the next 50 years revenge might be on the cards!

I do however think the article was a tad bizarre....my instant feeling was 'what would the reaction have been if the story was of a Brit saying similar things about the Indian cricket team"....in fact the article would never have been printed
Of course that's so unusual isn't it...?
"Who is Jacques Kallis? Jacques Kallis means nothing to me."
People seem to have this crazy idea that anti-white racism is a legitimate redress for the centuries of injustices against non-whites... and it's all complete bullshiyt.

The Let's Kick Racism Out Of Football initiative is at least 10 years old unless I'm very much mistaken.

Well, everyone hates South Africa, don't they?
And... really, there was justification to hate the place 1948-1990, wasn't there?
