He can't temper the ball so easily in sl or in any other countries like he did in pak .

Yes, In the mid 2000s Pollock was fading away, Nel was average, Ntini was a bit of a HTB, McGrath would win them tons of games all around the globe.

No. Miller and Lindwall were the spearheads of the lineup, with Bradman, Harvey and Morris they have more than enough batting capabilities, Miller is a pacer of ATG quality, the only thing he is lacking is that he didn't bowl to tail enders often so has an absurdly low percentage of tail ender wickets. Miller is more useful than Sobers, he makes up for an attack only topped by a few in history.

Yes. Imran would win them serieses away from home and bring a killer instinct to the side, and I just think he's clearly a better Cricketer, and as Migara said, they'd have a mini monster at home anyway with Herath who'd have a very long career now, having a pace monster just brings in the extra variety.

Again, No. Kapil was the captain, He was also a ATG in India, 37 with the bat and 26 with the ball in conditions dead for pace bowling is just a cheat code, he'd also come up and perform in Australia and West Indies, something I can't see Jadeja doing

No. Again, Border was the captain, and they needed the batting stability more, it only took a couple years of a transition phase to pass from Lillee to a perfectly lineup with McDermott, Reid, Hughes and so forth, Border was their only ATG bat in the late 80s and was carrying a weak Australian lineup.

No. Thommo is just a strictly better Lee, no brainer here.

So who would be the players that could replace Murali for 2000s SL?

Dead set ones are Imran, Hadlee, Marshall, McGrath, Steyn, Ambrose, Pollock, Donald and Wasim. Don't think any other bowler could replace him.
And Murali would make over many of those in to their respective teams with exception of McGrath, because they already have Warne. Batsmen wise Bradman and Miller probably would. But that is a marginal decision. No one else would. Not even Sobers, Kallis, Kapil, Botham or even Proctor
Pollock over Murali in SL makes no sense.

I think except Bradman, no one is replacing Murali in SL for me. And Bradman even isn't a given, I would actually consider not to take him. Imran, Hadlee, Sobers and Marshall give Murali a good run, but still won't replace him

Bradman is grossly overestimating home Murali

Without Minnows at home

Murali: 372 @ 22.22, 3.50 WPI
Ashwin: 356 @ 21.67, 3.07 WPI
Imran: 115 @ 18.86, 2.73 WPI
Rabada: 198 @ 20.08, 2.78 WPI

I get the WPI appeal but eh, Nah, he isn't beating Bradman for home.

A few has better averages but that WPM is a monster, especially a huge factor for a team like SL who actually had no other proper Test standard bowlers bar Vaas largely over that period and actually had a very strong home batting with Sangakkara, Jayawardene, Samaraweera, Jayasuriya, Dilshan, etc.

Nah sorry Bradman is a cheat code home and away.

Imran is likely to be more deadly per test than Murali, maybe not with the same volume though but he can bat and is a captain too.
