I think except Bradman, no one is replacing Murali in SL for me. And Bradman even isn't a given, I would actually consider not to take him. Imran, Hadlee, Sobers and Marshall give Murali a good run, but still won't replace him

Issue is for SL it is fast bowling. We always had excellent spinners who were match winners at home. Any other pace based team at any point in history would take Murali in a heart, beat, exception of India and Aus of Warne's era. It is not how good player is, but how much that player worth for the team.

For example, Bradman' invincibles or 80s Wi would drop any of their bowlers for Murali in a heart beat, but 2010s India would not drop Bumrah for him. The only players they may drop is Ashwin or Jadeja. It finally comes down to relative worth.

None of your spinners except Herath can hold a candle to Murali even at Home. And 2000s Herath isn't just cutting it, had he he would have had partnered Murali himself.

Murali was once in few generations spinner. But it doesn't mean SL reserve spinners were ordinary. Most of them would walk in to most of the teams around.
