He definitely played well yesterday (I was at the game, and when he came out to bad and when he hit a 6 to get off a pair the roar was huge) and obviously had much more confidence in himself since the occasion required quick runs. I still felt there was a bit of poor captaincy by Smith. I didn't feel he attacked a batsman that was under pressure as much as he could have, but as per usual, once Symonds starts hitting he's very hard to stop.

Yeh it was bloody fantastic, crowd loved it!!

Did you watch the match? Even on Day 2 when he didn't take any wickets he was bowling very well and we all said it. He had much more penetration and troubled all the batsmen. It's not just a few wickets due to sheer luck. He bowled better than I'd ever seen him bowl and didn't even try a single off-break.

Boucher shouldn't have been given. Pollock's wicket was a result of low bounce. Kallis was a good ball I give him that, but at his pace, he should be bowling a tight line anyway.

If they're going to continue playing two spinners, "handy" isn't enough.

He should concentrate on his medium pace in order to make himself a good all-rounder, his off-spin isn't particularly needed really when you think about it and just takes up practice time.

If he were able to improve his off spinners enough to be our 2nd spinner, then it wouldn't be necessary to play Mcgill , and we could always play a 3rd specialist seamer. Ideal but somewhat unlikely, but Symo can be a tad unpredictable, can't he?

Symonds now averages 17 at test level, for a year Clarke didn't average much more than that, so yes.

You could only say he bowled badly if you didn`t watch the damn match! He consistently beat the batsmen, countless times, was very economical and took vital wickets. I`m not saying he`ll do that always, nor am I saying that his batting will be fantastic. I`m just saying I hope he does, and he has more than enough potential to do so.

Everyone is so excited because Symonds took a couple of wickets and smashed a 70. He hasn't done anything bar that day. I would take Cairns, Oram and Styris as Test allrounders over that lard. What's with the cream on the lip? Makes him look like a fluffybunny.

Styris is a joke of an all-rounder, whose bowling average of more than 55 frankly flatters him. Oram's bowling is in a death-spiral of its own, so both can be pretty well reclassified as batsmen (good ones) without too much fear of contradiction.

You insult Chris Cairns by mentioning the other two in the same breath as him - he's a 'proper' all-rounder.

I dont rate the bowling of Styris or Oram at test level particularly highly, but he was comparing them to Symonds as allrounders, so I think it was fair enough to bring them up.
