an idea: a draft of non-cricketers

Rafael Nadal

Absolutely deadly on dusty brown surfaces because of the insane amount of topspin he puts on the ball. He'd kill it on SC pitches. Basically Ravindra Jadeja turned up to 11. Has a better batting technique than Jaddu as well, as clearly seen below.

Eric Clapton
Rafael Nadal

Usain Bolt

Also, sicne this team is captained by Burgey, this is not the last SC bully spinner I'm picking.
Nadal wil fail a drug test very early on. Plus, when was the last time anyone actually saw him move forward to a spinning ball?

I picked Andrew Chimboza in the third round and I'll pick two more.

My captain is George Costanza in "The Opposite". If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right. This describes Shane Watson's use of DRS, but also makes this version of Costanza one of the most innovative skippers of all time by using strategies which are far beyond the comprehension of a regular captain. Examples include setting a 1-9 legside field and having the batsman caught at deep point, picking a team completely full of all-rounders to give the side flexibility, and telling Johnson Charles to play his natural game in a test match.

Cricket is basically a game of crushing your opponent psychologically, so the obvious pick here is Frankie Boyle. Put him at first slip and the batsmen will not only dismiss themselves but be in tears while they do it. Probably the best cricketer in Scotland as well.

Motivation, I'm choosing this bloke:

Extreme language warning.

Let's call him Ranty AFL Coach for the purposes of this draft.
Had a coach sort of like this in U18s. ****ing scary psychopath. We all thought he was hilarious behind his back. Heard a few years ago he'd lost his WWCC and was changed for less than savoury acts with minors.

**** of the highest order!

I'm going for the world's most famous sportsman who's also a cricket fan (well, out of those who are still available). In another universe he perhaps grew up in South Africa and is now the country's leading all-rounder.

Da Vinci seems low in that batting order to me. I'd have him at six at the lowest.

We should start an atg non cricketing draft picks discussion thread

Zinzan

Basil Fawlty thanks. Tall strapping fast bowler and big hitting batsman...just look at the leverage he's getting on that car below... recall a few cricket references on that show.. including Major excitedly remarking whilst reading the paper.."Boycott scored a century!"

Oh and this typically 1970s racist little outburst about watching cricket in India...
