Noble would be capable at 6 but Gilly is the superior bat so I am getting him to the crease first. I was wondering if Noble was a bit of a reach but he gives me lots of options.
Noble was every bit as good as Gilchrist, there's an argument he would be better. But aside from that, batting both out of position will change both of their batting styles. Gilly's counter attacking makes less sense with another strong batsman behind him. And Noble has less time to build an innings at 7. I think you're building your batting order based on stats.

Think it's TBP's go?

I can think of worse things to base it on. We are all just speculating which makes it more interesting. I could live with either way but a call needed to be made.
I obviously rate Noble as a batsman, otherwise I wouldn't have picked him. He averaged 30 in the golden age, which is probably equivalent to high 30s in today's numbers which is arguably as good as any genuine all-rounder outside Sobers, Faulkner and Kallis . Reality is he made 1 century vs Gilly's 17 so I want Gilly in first if I'm picking the order.

I had a similar issue with deciding between Jock Cameron and Learie Constantine a few drafts back for 6 and 7

Fair enough, the test match scoring is far different to first class for both players. Perhaps I was considering that too much.
BTW I think to say Noble's 30 average is somehow equivalent to any number now is folly, but I don't want an argument on comparing eras or statistics.
