I'd still say defensive ability is the more important skill, though. i.e. Glenn Johnson

Ha, fair.

Got to say, a big annoyance of mine in years gone by at club level has been managers deciding to stick quality attacking full-backs on the wing because they are so good going forwards. Obviously there are times it's the right decision (Gareth Bale the obvious example, not that he's really a winger either, but; Ryan Taylor got pushed into midfield when he left us but is more of a midfielder (when fit) these days anyway) but by and large it's laziness. It's like when Eriksson decided to play Gerrard as a striker.

Listened to first half an hour on the radio on the way home - Danny Mills mused that England didn't know what their game plan was, not like when they had Shearer up front and Waddle on the wing putting the balls in for him. Apart from the fact Waddle played his last England game before Shearer made his debut eh Danny

The idea that just "putting balls into the box" is anything like a passable strategy is even more worthy of condemnation tbh.

**** that ****s me as well, crossing is so ****ing low percentage as a strategy. Hate ****s who lambast wide players for not running down a blind alley to the corner flag before attempting to blindly hoof the ball into the box.

So according to Robbie Savage, a deliberate handball on the line is "perfectly alright", because everyone would do it. More commentators/pundits giving cheating their stamp of approval then. Not that I'd expect anything less of him of all people mind you.

And this is one of the great minds in charge of the future of English football. No wonder everything is up **** creek.

The BBC refusing to call a well known European player by the name he's universally recognised as (Sokratis) and insisting on using his surname (Papastathopoulos), then giggling every time they mention it like a bunch of 7 year olds laughing at the funny foreigners name was definitely one of the more awkward moments during the tournament so far.

Don't think there's anything wrong with them calling him by his actual surname tbh. The giggling was stupid though.

Here in the phillipines they don't have pundits. They just play Brazilian music at half time and show pictures of fans dancing.

How much do all you ITV wankers wish you were me right now?

Similar in Spain. They just showed 15 minutes worth of adverts then went back to the ground for the 2nd half.
