It's not rocket science, Garner had to share his wickets with 3 other world class pacers?

Stats nerds must be going crazy how to compute this while normal people rate bowlers on what they actually saw

Kohli has played more 5 test series than Tendulkar.

Gavaskar played more 6 test series than Tendulkar or Kohli have played 5 test series. (6 test series were only played in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, mainly between Australia, England, Windies and India - also a couple with Pakistan)

Sydney Barnes played 27 tests. He took 24 5’fers.

He actually took 5’fers in 18/27 tests. So if we’d been lucky enough to watch him play a test, we’d have a 2/3 chance to see him take a 5’fer.

On the batting side, Bradman scored 29 tons in 52 matches.

Scored centuries in 28/52 matches, a 54% chance to see him score a century if you watch him play a test.

There were 4 in Aus in the 70s (3 v Eng, 1 v WI); 6 involving India (5 with various teams touring India, 1 in Pakistan) in a short spell around 1980; and 6 in England in the 80s and 90s (5 v Aus, 1 v WI). Technically there's also England's tour of the WI in 1998, but one of those was a replacement for the abandoned first match.

Various Indian players played in all their 6-Test series (and Gooch played in 6 of England's).

Checking up on 5-Test series, the last 14 (2009 Ashes onwards) have all been England v Australia/India; it's over 20 years since a 5-Test series not involving England, and the last 7 of those (from 1992 to 2002) all involved the West Indies.
New Zealand haven't played a 5-Test series since 1972, and only 5 in total, all away (2 in SA, 1 in each of Eng, Ind & WI). Sri Lanka and the newer Test teams haven't played any.
