I like benchy's manual acceptance of registration idea. It's used on another forum I post on, and has cut back on the idiots signing up too - as they lose interest while waiting to be accepted.

I don't think that works personally. In my experience, a guest browsing a forum might see a thread they're interested in contributing to, so they register, and start posting. If it takes 24-48 hours to enable someones account, then they could well have lost interest by then.

I don't see the way it works at the moment causing massive problems anyway.

Is it not possible to include a very simple cricketing question as a sort of shibboleth on the sign-up form for anyone wishing to join?

Anyone wishing to join a cricket forum should at least know (say) Australia's captain.

That's something I'm looking at actually. It appears that's what a lot of other forums are doing to get around the spamming.

At the risk of being shouted down, but wouldn't this mean private messages could be enabled, if there was a drop off in spammers?

It's unlikely.

Any chance of this being implemented soon? There's only so much Phentermine a forum can take.

There's a hack here that seems to be doing something similar to what you're looking for. You might have to upgrade to ver 3.6.0 though.

(Of course, if captcha is built-in as this says, you could just use that.)

Cheers, that's a definiate option, and we will upgrade to vBulletin 3.6.1 but not for a little while due to other projects being worked on.
