Note, despite all the other feigned optimism, I'd feel much more confident about it if we had another decent midfielder :p

Nah, this deal is better. Bradshaw only has a year or two left and Henderson is supposed to be an absolute gun in the making. Much more future oriented.
Yeah, perhaps.

Still reckon with Gibbs and Murphy priming to become guns in the next 2 years, you would have liked to have a forward target for them to kick at.

How long is Waite out for?

Not sure, should be back r1, but whether he's ever as good again remains to be seen.

Carlton will most certainly reap the future benefits of the deal, and I can understand why Voss has seemingly neglected the future for this season, and looked to chase a flag again. In reality, the lineup before trade week wasn't going to be challenging for a flag in the next 2/3 years. They were going to be even less likely to be challenging for a flag after that when Black/Power/Bradshaw had their best years behind them, even allowing for youth development. The Fev deal may have re-opened our premiership window in the next 2/3 years, as risky as it may be for the longer term future of the club.

Worth noting that from a PR perspective, Fev to the club is huge considering all the hype that's going to be surrounding the GC in the coming 2 years.
Not with some of the info coming through now about Fev. Anderson just talking about how the AFL will take action if the woman makes a complaint (not sure which rumour this relates to though), so could badly backfire on Voss.

TBF I didn't say it wouldn't be a huge PR disaster, just said Huge :p

ITSTL, if they do take action, especially considering (from what I know anyway) they haven't taken a stand on such incidents before (Thinking Bock/Proud). But then I guess there's been no such incidents that took place at the AFL's supposed night of nights either....

Pretty happy with how that turned out in the end. Rumours are floating around that Bradshaw is going to retire, so Carlton may have dodged a bit of a bullet there. Still, would love to see, even just for one season, Brown, Fev and Bradshaw all in the same forward line. Especially with delivery from Black, Power, Rich, etc. As long as our defence stays fit, I think we'll be there or there abouts next season.

Personally I think we'll be able to reign Fev in a bit as well. Voss and Brown won't take any of his crap, and getting out of Melbourne where he was probably never able to escape AFL will do him good.

Bradshaw will play down back, I reckon, especially if you guys continue to have injuries with Patfull and Merrett. Maybe play him as a swingman Adam Hunter style if they are all fit.

Pretty happy with picking up Drum. First round draft pick, should be suited to taking over from Milburn in a year or so.

The other one is that Brisbane will be able to rotate Buchanan and Sherman through the forward line and midfield, adding a bit to your midfield depth. Rather than having Hooper taking up a spot sitting there, getting 3 touches and 1 goal per game.

Lol @ Carlton's forward line next year. Betts to be the club goal kicking champion with 31. Another couple of years out of the finals baggers...

Disappointed we didn't flex a bit more to get Ball. Would have given an extra dimension to our midfield. Still Jolly will add plenty, and our kids should keep on naturally improving.

Just about as good as yours, tbf.

Collingwood have got to be the worst recruiters of all time. Every year they promise a big name, every year they stuff it up. Ball WANTED to go to you guys ffs and couldn't even get the deal across the line. Shambolic club.

Jolly for 14 > Henderson + 12 for Fev + 27 itbt.

Not our fault the rest of the comp is jealous and feels the need to prove what big tough kids they are when it comes time to deal with us...

Seriosuly though, fun and games aside, you have to wonder why Collingwood can't land any big fish despite being linked to them year in year out (Judd, Pav, Brown, Aker, Fev just off the top of my head). Facilities are great, money not an issue, playing group seems amiable (unless you get into a car with a Cloke or Didak) and I'd imagine Eddie could talk the pants off anyone, so why do they always lose out?

We generally aren't prepared to trade away what we feel to be good players. Generally, that's a good policy, but it will hurt you when you're trying to GET good players - you have to be prepared to give to get. In this case, I understand that if we'd assented to 30 + Goldsack, the deal would have happened. Tyson is a decent player, he's young-ish and he can play a role, but most clubs would have been prepared to offer him up... :sigh:

Plus I do think we've one way or another burnt bridges with a lot of clubs. WCE famously wanted an "anywhere but Collingwood" outcome out of the Judd fiasco. Carlton openly said that they wouldn't trade Fev to Collingwood unless they could ream us in the process (which is bizarre on a trading perspective, they've done well enough out of the Heath Scotland deal, and Cam Cloke for Chris Bryan was a win for them IMO). In Ball's case, I think we goofed, but I also think there was no will from St Kilda to make it work.

Jolly is a decent sized fish.

Bit like the crows, the pies don't really look to bottom out so their salary cap is usually pretty well distributed. Put $100,000+ on a players current salary and look at the agents work deals.

You would think Brisbane and Sydney would have trouble drafting people but perhaps the increased media attention + boof heads will allow them to trade some talented troublemakers for years to come.

The Power seem pretty happy. 3 first round drafts picks, two traded in, and a couple players from interstate.

Nash i'm not sure how he will go but Schultz will either flourish finally under a decent coach ala Rodan or just turn to **** and be cut at the end of the season.
