Oh when the Saints.. go marching in.. oh when the Saints go marchin' in!

I'm barracking for the Saints to win the cup this year, bring it home. Completely screws up my tips but oh well..

Looking beyond semi finals, I say prelims will be West Coast vs Adelaide, St Kilda vs Sydney. Those will be awesome games, specifically the Saints - Swans match... what an awesome season this has been...
Hear hear ... :whistling O when the Saints :whistling

St Kilda and WC - wake me up when someone with talent does something will you.
Talent? St. Kilda are probably the most talented side in the AFL, they just don't have the experience or application that some of the other teams do, and their coach is a shocker.

Just watched the video of Sydney v West Coast. Oh the pain. But what a great game! Tadhg Kennelly is a legend. In the highlights shows we usually get in NZ we only get to see marks and goals so this was the first chance for me to see how good he is, what a champion.

Congrats to West Coast for that win, coming back from 15 behind was a great performance.

Tell you what, Riewoldt may not have dominated tonight but Adelaide consistently had 2 and sometimes 3 players on him. I reckon he did a fine job. Usually Hentschel and McGregor would double team him, and with Gehrig and Milne not doing much damage it almost worked. Adelaide definitely missed Bock and Ricciuto, but St Kilda had Hudghton, Koschitzke, Maguire and Penny missing plus clearly a half-fit Gehrig. St Kilda had it worse, but still performed brilliantly. Hayes and Dal Santo were great, and the dual brownlow medallist Harvey was SUPERB! What a champion he has been for so many years now.

Awesome win by the Saints, come on Victoria! Now its up to the Roos to take out Port on Sunday.

We'll never stop stop stop 'til we're top top top.. da da da da da dum

Port Adelaide 26.8 - 164
def
North Melbourne 11.11 - 77

I hate that song, 2nd worse in the AFL behind Freo, though today means that Melbourne arent the worst performed finals team this year, and we had to play an away final :D

Next week's Semi Finals

Sydney v Geelong on Friday night @ SCG/Telstra Stadium
Adelaide v Port. Adelaide @ AAMI

SA Showdown should be sold out 10 minutes after tickets go on sale.
My tips are Swans & Port Adelaide. PA just looked to strong today

Ahhhh, what a sh*tty result. I really didn't even want Port to make the 8, but now they've made the second week. Oh well the only positive is we get a Showdown which will be interesting. Still wanted to see the Roos at least make it to the 2nd week considering the season they had and the memorable comeback moments they created throughout the year.

Sydney and Adelaide to win the semis for me.

Interesting 1st week of finals.

2 great games and 2 blow-outs.

Melbourne were horrible on Saturday whilst Port were awesome today.

On this weekend's form, Port are looking as good as anyone.

Sorry about my dig at Saints and Eagles yesterday - a few beers and Swans hangover colored my thoughts.

BTW, scant satisfaction in hearing that the umpires admitted to costly errors on Friday night.

Sad to see Leigh Colbert retire. A career full of injuries, but by God he's one of the most courageous players I ever had the privilege of watching. An absolute champion.

Don't expect any sympathy from a Geelong supporter. He used to be my hero. I had his number on my back before anyone else had heard of him - everyone used to ask me, "Who is number 2?" - and then he goes and does what he did. There were so many better ways of dealing with it than walking out on the club that just invested an enormous amount of faith in a young man like he was at the time.

Fantastic player, could have been anything before he did his knee. Sad to see him go, sadder to have not seen him at Geelong the last five years.

The media reported that ridiculously though, he didnt leave to go to what he thought was a successfull team at all. I heard him in an interview and all he said was that it was time for a change and it WAS NOT b ecause he wanted to play finals. Thats something which he'll be remembered for unfortunately, especially when its so false.

Plus the Cats administration was in a mess. I don't blame Colbert for leaving, but then again I'm not a Cats fan so I can see why one would be disappointed, especially considering he never captained a game there.

Still a champion.

I never actually talked about the reason why he walked out - I am aware that it was because he felt he wasn't getting the support from the older players. I think the fact that he had to sit out that year made him feel a bit insecure, to tell you the truth. But it didn't make it any easier to swallow, because in one or two years that whole part of the list was gone, as was the coach and pretty much that whole individualistic culture of the Geelong football club. He should have stuck around when we had the new coach.

But the point is that he left after the winds of change had swept through Geelong. We had just appointed Brian Cook, who is a dead set genius, as is Frank Costa who had been there a year, and we got rid of Gary "Get Experienced Players Till I Run The Club Into The Ground" Ayres. A number of those senior players retired at the end of that year, or wer on the way out the next. There were signs of change at the Catters, but Colbert jumped ship.
