Players can only be selected if they put their hand up to do so and apparently there wasn't alot that did this season.

I'm kinda glad no Collingwood players put their hands up (assuming they would have got in). I don't mind the international rules, but I wouldn't want any of them to risk a serious injury or even a disruption to their pre-season for it.

Yeah I'm listening to 3AW online and Caroline Wilson thinks Ross Lyon has the job, who the hell is he???

OT but Dwayne Russell started the segment having a crack at McGrath for naming his ashes bunnies and in his tirade managed to say that because of his big mouth McGrath isn't a patch on past Australian fast bowlers like Lillee and Thomson

Collingwood are crap anyway, wouldn't make a difference. I'm thinking maybe Rusling, Thomas, Tarrant could have made it, Rusling & Tarrant are good athletes and Thomas has a bit of zip about him.

Didn't know about players having to put their hand up either, Borcich, though it makes sense. Good to see Hall & Riewoldt do so.

The Horse returning home would be cool.

Looks like the Tigers aren't going to get Polak now. Damn. :(

Clement would have been welcomed I'd have thought, and maybe Swan. Didak, one leg and all, was too busy refusing to haggle 'Life of Brian' style.

But anyway, given I don't want them to play, I'm not going to mount a defence for their inclusion! :)

Anyone heard anything about whether Tarrant is moving? the latest I heard was that both WC and Freo were interested. Maybe a straight swap Polak for Tarrant?

Hahaha Clement perhaps, I was going to mention him but I'm unsure of his leg speed. Swan and Johnson perhaps.

Yeah, all news reports I have read indicate he is going to WC. WC want to become like Brisbane 01-03 and they think he is just the man. Collingwood are the only ones standing in the way.

I read an interesting opinion article a while back on Nick Davis and Chris Tarrant, that at the time of their indiscretions, Davis was heavily punished and Tarrant was let off, scot free. Now Davis is a commited swan man for life (I'd imagine) and Tarrant is gone. Shows how much better Sydney delt with the situation as opposed to Collingwood.

There was talk that this year could be Davis' last at Sydney a few weeks ago and they're certainly still not ruling that out, not sure where you get your information from.

From an outsider's perspective, Tarrant seems to have more discipline and team ideals instiled into him than Davis, although obviously they're both a bit wobbly.

Yeah. I think part of it was the flogging he copped earlier in the season for his appalling lack of useful contributions. Mick took umbrage and went in to bat for his charge, but it meant when the discipline thing happened, the default mode was to circle wagons around Tazz rather than boot him firmly up the backside. Also, I don't mind the coach sticking up for a player when the media circus is out for blood, but Tarrant certainly failed to repay that faith with performances on the field. I was a big fan a couple of years ago, but I think he should go now. He might do well somewhere else, but he's not going to be the player he can be at Collingwood, so the teams better to trade for what they can get.

I reckon Polak would be a good trade for the 'Pies, with Wakelin getting on, and Jason Cloke being let go. Do you think anyone will go for Jason?

Thats not the point of my post though, the point being that whilst Davis looks much more secure at Sydney and he has rebonded with the team to a remarkable extent, Tarrant is out the door with no hope of ever playing for Collingwood again.

Two massive assumptions.

All the Cloke's are duds bar Travis. So I'd be surprised if anyone went for Jason.

There's talk about a potential three-way trade which sends Polak to Richmond and Tarrant to Fremantle.

Fremantle are also very interested in Murphy's cousin, Solomon, Harvey and Shaw obviously rate him highly from their days at Essendon and want him at Fremantle. Essendon want a first round pick for him though.
