All jokes aside, and it's not like he's terrible or anything- but the reality is, Milne made the WC squad over Henry, and has now made the XI over Mills, because he is QUICK. In terms of either recent form or a history of achievement, there is no basis for his selection. He is there purely because of this thing that he does that other people can't do.

Mills has always been and continues to be a good performer. Henry has briefly been an outstanding performer. Milne is neither of those things. He is also not doing the thing that is the one and only reason for his selection over these other blokes. The more I think about it, the more I'm actually quite annoyed by it.
Milne bowled really well in the UAE and in the Ford Trophy. Henry bowled even better in the UAE but not very well in the Ford Trophy. Boult didn't bowl in the UAE or the Ford Trophy but figured out how to bowl in ODIs two minutes before the World Cup started.

It's a hodge podge of form and making it up as we go along and miraculously it's working.

Milne bowled pretty well in the UAE without taking many wickets, but it's an outrageous stretch to claim he made the WC squad on "form" imo. There is no way, however you slice it, that Milne put enough on the board to get selected on any performance-based measure. He got selected because he is express. The fact he was bowling competently in the UAE was nice and I'm sure it reassured the selectors, but there's just no way you can say that he played his way into the squad, if you take pace out of the equation.

Eoin was trying to do fancy stuff for a while now, something that England could have done without until 30th over or so.

Pace is pretty much Milne's only shock-factor & if he's only 141-145 as opposed to late 140s/early 150s, there's a case for Henry, Mills & Mitch to be selected ahead of him. Henry bowls around that 140-144 mark anyway, but he can swing it.

See, no part of Vettori's foot was behind the popping crease there and it wasn't a no-ball.

I'm pretty sure as you land on the line, it's fine.

Excellent catch too.

He bowled through the middle and at the death and got both slogger hacks and the odd top class players out, and kept his economy in check.

Henry destroyed people at the start but the slogger biffers could get him.

Both of us know which left armer from ND shouldn't have made it, but he's justified his spot. I had Mills, Milne and Henry in my squad.

Anyway who cares because **** off yesssss you're gone!
