Which shot usually involved either the most risk or most exact technique to pull off well for a batsmen?

Among the conventional ones, an on drive to a leg spinner.

Reminds me of those ridiculous shots Dwayne Bravo used to play off Warne bowling around the wicket.

That was very lucky and not really well played compared to Root.
I actually don't think this is as risky a shot as long as the bowler is not expecting it, and you are settled in his spell. The surprise factor works.

You mean the type Laxman played to Warne? Weren't those inside out offdrives?

Yeah I tend to agree. Especially if played straight.

He played a number of on drives in that 281 innings. Those drives against the spin were some of the best shots one could see.

Those as well, but he also used to hit him blatantly against the spin out of the rough through midwicket.

Lara's swivel pulls in the 90s seemed so flamboyant but difficult as well.
There was an interview with Lara some years ago on Sky in the UK where he demonstrated how he could hit the same delivery anywhere from cover through to backward point. Pretty cool to watch.
In more recent times, I find the cover drive for six impressive, working against all sorts of momentum to hit the ball up and over and needs perfect timing and power.

What about an inside out cover drive to a leg spinner? Laxman played such a shot to Warne during his 281. It was ridiculous.

I find short arm jab to be quite rare, especially in red ball cricket.

Not as hard as it looks to get bat on ball effectively. It's just so difficult to control and with men out extremely high risk.

Getting under the ball effectively and then controlling it against a fast pace delivery is very hard.
