Burgey

Forgotten the last session at Headingley already?
This is worse than that by miles. These two blokes are spuds and Australia’s own standards with the ball have been terrible , that was an atg knock by a bloke in career form.

Dropped catches happen but the Head drop (and retain people like Harris) and the bowl first are just really off. And not hindsight b/c my mouth literally dropped open when I saw Paine say bowl first. It's the Oval!

Never happened. Fake news. There wasn't a completed test at Headingly. Australia were robbed of an almost certain victory after rolling England for 67 in the first innings before the entire last innings was cut short by bad light.

It's either that or I blacked out and repressed the memory.

Awful session from Australia

Picking Siddle, sending England in and dropping catches

Woeful session brought about by some extremely poor decision making at the top. "We have dropped Head and Starc and picked Marsh and Siddle", followed by "we'll have a bowl".

Really you expect to take 3-4 wickets in the first session minimum if you bowl first.

The commentators were focussing on Root all session but Burns was the standout batsman; got better the longer the session went on.

As there's no rain this test will we finally see some WTC points deducted for slow over rates? (2 points per over lost)

5 bowlers before lunch

Was that Siddle drop easier or harder than the one he shelled against India?

He's batted well, and ridden his luck well.

There are few tougher tests of an opener's technique and temperament than an Ashes series against this bowling attack, and he's come through it impressively.

let's hope not. the first they can do to make this thing stupid is to remove points for slow over rates, an issue only the most boring people alive should care about
