Because you can get a batsman out with bouncers, especially lower order batsmen. It screws up their footwork and they often don't get in line with the ball, meaning that ordinary short of the length balls that would easily be defended get nicked to the slips.

This has been standard SOP to the tail for like six or seven years. It's not something that they just invented to injure the Indian tail.

I don't care if it's India or any one else. Bowling bouncers to people who you can bowl at the stump and get out is poor strategy.

The problem with our short ball tactic to the tail is it ends up being the stock ball instead of the surprise. By all means bounce the tail, but throw a few good balls on a length in as well.

Yeah I agree. Like, they should bowl at the stumps more, I don't question that at all. But the reason they don't bowl at the stumps more is because it's a plan not to, not because they're salivating at the prospect of some broken bones.

Did you see the shot Siraj tried to play there? If all you do is bowl full, most tailenders will keep that out with ease with a standard forward defense. Defensive techniques are very competent these days.
