4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

Smith leaves the ball the way he does to remove all chance of it collecting a deflection once it has passed his body. At least that's how I think his mind works. Someone should capture his leave from side on in slow mo.

Well this is great. The mandatory dropped catch from Roy and now our spinner manages to overstep. England yet again plumbing the depths when their opponents have the temerity to have them on the back foot.

Broad and Leach have been gently excellent but that aside there’s been so much loose rubbish not just today but all series from the Poms. They’re blessed to still be in this series.

And as I type that, their best player serves up a rank, wide full toss to allow TPC his 500th run for the series

Seems weird but has Bumrah only bowled 4 balls to Smith ever? Did they face off for the first time in the WC? One ball was an inside edge that missed the stumps, the next was an outside edge that missed the keeper and the other two were dots.

This is good by Leach but you kind of get the feeling that England aren't too far from losing the plot a bit here. Frustration is very very tangible rn

Remember when idiots said Smith's peak was done because he averaged 30 against SA last year? I recall sometime suggesting he'd average sub 40 for the rest of his career.

500 in 4 innings

If Leach gets Smith and he becomes aware there’s a perception he’s weak against left arm spin, you know he’ll go away for three months and work on it until no left arm spinner ever gets him out again

Says it all about the difference in quality between SA's and England's attacks.

Freudian or deliberate?

Warne is proud of his sledging.

Smith is going to hit a double ton here. England look like they're going through the motions.
