No HDS, the best thing to do with Fate is bait it. Bait it hard. This never goes wrong.

We've got this one in the bag guys.

Southee and Boult are riding on a crest of a wave, just like their team is really. BUT, where tests have been concerned i think our NZ friends go a little OTT. Boult and Southee were of course in the Caribbean not long ago and the truth is Roach outperformed both. Tim has proven himself but one still gets the feeling that away from home Boult can go missing. I'm really looking forward to seeing NZ play in England later this year...they win that series with those two playing a significant role then imo that would be a huge step forward and the hype would be justified.

Anyway my friends..still feeling smug and confident? or is the pressure starting to build knowing you're the "massive favourites"? :D

good to have you here Windie as always...I will be heading to the game tomorrow - and hoping for my team to do well - I trust you will be watching as well, from a distance, rooting for the Windies. We will see what both sets of fans have to say after the match. Certainly I hope with all my heart that if we are fortunate enough to get up tomorrow that we thank all concerned for the game and look forward to the next one.

Cheers mate. Have a good time at the game and may the best team win. If we get totally trashed though i'm not sure i'll be hanging around too much  . Your lot are in form so logically people will be going for the kiwis but like i said previously i just get the sense this will be a tight affair.

it probably will be tight you are right. I think Guptil, Ross, and Elliot have question marks over their batting despite Martin's recent ton. And having three guys who might not turn up is a big deal.

Good luck to you men as well windie.

Although there is something exciting about a West Indies revival but I don't think they have the team for it. Have been rooting for New Zealand all tournament. Hope they go on to win it.

Hope New Zealand wins this, so that we have the top 4 sides in semis. All is fair from there.

Tbf Johnson didn't play in the away Ashes...

Roach didn't " outperform" Southee. They were both pretty much equally good.

Boult was certainly slow to start off on both the Windies and Pakistan (UAE) tours, but he was quite deadly in the final tests of both series, very much instrumental in NZ's victories. He's enjoyed success in both Lanka and England earlier. He's not the finished article yet, but certainly no (early) Mitchell Johnson when it comes to consistency. I tend to buy the theory that he's a less effective when Southee isn't around to maintain pressure at the other end, I think the stats would bear this out. He's been nothing short of a revelation in this world cup.

As a NZ fan I'm certainly feeling the tension, but the team has generally carried themselves well in all sorts of situations (that ODI series in the UAE comes to mind) so pretty optimistic all the same. It only gets harder from here anyway.

Having experienced NZ exiting every WC cup-less since the 80s, I thought I'd better prepare a "World Cup Disaster Mitigation Kit" for this game. Currently all it has in it is a bottle of The Famous Grouse. Good enough, I reckon.

I have a 4 litre bottle of paint thinners for the same purpose. I have also prepared an effigy of Grant Elliott to burn if necessary. Not that I dislike Grant, but his emaciated looking body is a lower effort effigy.

Unfortunately cricket wasn't cancelled for this one as it was for the Australia match. Will have to take a radio onto the field.
