I know that a bit of time was consumed with Root’s nose bleed abd losing the ball in the covers, but should we be worried about the fact that we finished our 50 overs 20 minutes behind schedule?

Think England have enough, personally. We've done well to keep them to this score after the start they had, but our awful first 15-20 overs were costly. We've seen throughout this World Cup that chasing 300+ scores is not easy, and with our lack of batting form I don't think we'll really threaten - as usual, it's going to be down to KW and Taylor to get us there.

Comms are making an awful lot of the pitch slowing up. You’d think for the World Cup they’d be able to find a groundsman who can make one that lasts longer than 30 overs.

Ferguson and Boult are still only two people though, ideally you'd want 3. Best approach is to make sure that only them two bowl the last 7/8 overs, but it's not always an option. Neesham's bowling might help in that regard.
Henry didn’t do that badly. 18 off 2 with the critical wicket of Morgan. Boult ended up coping more punishment than Henry did.

Henry Nicholls sleeper hit of the summer.

I don't see NZ chasing this...would be something. If anything, I can see them collapsing with Kane getting out abnormally early and then Neesham putting together a last but effort. I just hope they dont lose by a huge margin so that Pakistan has very little hope vs Bangers.

Pakistan will have very little hope even if NZ get bowled out for 100.

Good recovery job by the bowlers, Neesham continues to improve and Henry did pretty well too. Agree with Daemon it's probably 30 too much on NZ's current form, but it'll be a good test leading into the semis (assuming they do get there of course). Really hope Guptill finds form today.

I actually don't mind the wicket slowing up. It evens things up. Also, forces the batsmen to use their feet to create some momentum.

Pitches tend to look slower when bowlers actually bother to try a bit of variation on them.

So according to Cricinfo, Williamson may be out next match due to over rates lol.

So that’s both Pakistan and NZ out of the WC.

The basic idea is to prepare a transparent recipe for winning: 1. Win the toss 2. Bat first
Even England have been cured of the 'we are a great chasing team; we will bowl first' disease.
