Bradman was trying to protect his 100 avg, he was still easily the greatest cricketer in the world at the time of retirement.
Sachin retired because he had no other choice.

Well Thommo would have had him put there facing the WIndies quicks in his 70s, and Bradman once told Dean Jones he'd only average around 80 at that time due to his advanced age, so maybe PFK has a point.
