to get from 3/84 to 300 with a 180 for one of the batsmen means that you've got the seven other wickets scoring only 56 runs while the other guy gets 180

while it's not impossible that would seem... unlikely!
While it's an exaggeration, this was the kind of innings I was thinking about:

Aritro

International Regular
Wood's looked amazing without doing anything of note for too long. Would love him to emerge as a world class player. He's my favourite bowler to watch maybe.

Shady Slim

International Coach
buttler stands so tall such that he can't "crab" across as the first movement which would allow him to make it to catches like that one there

Wood is a gun, the sort of whole-hearted effort guy England should base their attack around. Need more guys in their set-up with his mindset

Seems to stay fit now (touch wood) so by rights he should become a regular and a point of difference in England's attack. Typically bowls too short obv. Also, getting that wicket of Labuschagne made me think that proper express bowlers at Wood's pace usually get on a roll and take wickets in clumps - scare and blow away the tail, hit new batters with real pace from ball one... but Wood doesn't. Seems to chip in with 1-3 per innings instead.

I’d suggest Roots/ England’s weird approach to dismissing the tail has something to do with this.

Just think if we’d managed to find another 100 runs from somewhere we might have a decent match to watch.

I think part of the scenario of Wood bowling short is that...he is short, for a fast bowler. TH to confirm but he looks 5'10 or so? So he's always going to be skiddy and struggle to bowl a full length that works at this level. But that length to Labuschagne was perfect, and quick. Love to see him build spells like Wagner too where he just goes short and scary for bursts. Hes a gun
