Warner has looked much much better these last three overs. So much more defined and decisive with his footwork.

At least Warner's looked OK so far. Don't think England's bowled as well as they could've though.

Australia done pretty well here given the conditions. England will be disappointed with this rain

Woakes perfectly entitled to be more than a little annoyed that the ball will be 15 overs old, and probably a little soggy, by the time he gets it.

Archer left on far too long, especially given that he doesn’t appear to have a plan on how to get a wicket, judging by his fairly scatter-gun approach thus far.

FTR Vaughan said pre-match that Root needs to be cautious not to overbowl Archer, and that Root can’t fall into the trap of just chucking him the ball and hope he does something brilliant.

Out of curiosity, what were we at this point at TB? Like, 7 down?

Weird to say but I'm quite content with 2/40 at this point. Could have been so, so much worse

I see the covers are sponsored by Wensleydale.

Hasn't really bowled any differently to last match, except not pulling out a random lightning speed spell.

And he's not wrong. It may be even worse here if they're getting a rain break every half hour.

That's so often the way at Headingley. Couldn't begin to tell you why.
For some reason, teams never keep it simple. At Headingley you need to push it a little fuller and make sure a decent number of your deliveries target the stumps and test the forward defence.

Going to be Xmas for Australia if today is seriously curtailed and they can bat tomorrow in sunshine with a lot of wickets in hand.

Yeah we got to 7-33.
Yeah it just felt like it really had that sort of potential at the start of the innings. Touch wood but looks like the worst of that might have passed for now. I don't think we need a big score, merely a competitive one.

It’s like Perth but for different reasons

Dropping Joe Burns is looking worse and worse now.

Khawaja really needed to step up today. He looks less ar$ed than usual on this tour.
