This has been a really, really, really good day of Test cricket. Probably the highest quality of the series not involving Smith.

This test match is like a truncated version of the Adelaide match from the last series down under, Eng fall well behind on first innings but peg it back a bit in the 2nd leaving them with an unlikely but doable chase, Root and a doughty upstart make a good fist of it in a long afternoon/evening partnership but eventually succumb to an excellent spell of bowling.

What remains to be seen is whether they fall over tomorrow or not
