Wasn't this Kapil nabbing a bag after taking thigh injections just to get on the park?
It was the match where Gavaskar initiated a walk off after getting out. Was hilarious. His only tour vs a full strength Australian attack. He averaged 17.

It was a beautiful time in the world.

Awful time to bat and it was a quality over tbf. But yeah, a shorter backlift might help him
he's looked bad in all the innings. shaw got the attention because of ponting's pointed criticism, but Agarwal hasn't looked up to it at all yet

Nah, last time it happened was the famous Aus WI test where Hughes scored a ton and Lilee got Viv out bowled last ball on day 1
Haha what a day that was. Still the best ton on a **** house deck I’ve ever seen. Was ridiculous batting against an ATG attack

Wish there were extended highlights available. Rob has a video up on his channel of the Hughes ton but it's really short sadly

Always happy to have Lakemba lad Salamuddin making comment. Means I don’t have to check the scores to see which sides are performing well. Wasn’t sighted day three last week, curiously...
Oh sweetie that's because I was enjoying jam lamingtons at your place celebrating the victory of our invincible Aussies. No time to post. :)

Whatever it takes!!!
Nah if you want to be a test player you need to have a tempo to your game. You can’t just be content to block all day batting six. That sort of stiff legged, immobile approach won’t work. You have to be able to release pressure, whether its strike rotation or boundary hitting. You can’t just let bowlers dictate to you
But you are assuming he was not trying. Sometimes I feel batsmen take more time figuring out the tempo and how to rotate strike in tests more than anything else. You know your boundary shots and you know which balls you are defending, leaving alone but it is where you can bunt for 1s and 2s and when to attack and when to pull back as a batsman that takes time.

As a rule, I think you Aussie fans are being weird here. Someone hates Paine, someone hates Head and someone hates Wade. And you guys are talking about Langer causing the downfall of Smith as a batsman. It has been 3 innings and you bowled out the opposition for 36 in one of those.

I said after the last game that Australia are not as good as they might think but jeez, you guys are harsh on some really good players here.

The number of innings played by Smith this series exceeds the number of runs he has scored. Hope it remains that way by the end of the series.

Also, on the run out, I do think he was out but at the same time, if I was a supporter of the batting side, I will feel hard done by if that was given out. As long as the umpire can be consistent about his benefit of the doubt applying to the batsman rule, I am not too bugged by that.

Siraj looks pretty decent. You'd have to think he is first choice replacement if any of the front three of bumrah Shami and Ishant are injured for the England tour. Time to move past Yadav for away games I think.

Are you quoting in the right forum. We all know TJB hates Head but where has anyone said they hate Paine or Wade? Also who said Langer has ruined Smith?

I do feel they weren’t anywhere near proactive enough with trying to disrupt the bowlers today, especially Ashwin. At a minimum you have to be working those singles better than they were.

I feel like Rahul will be a free wicket as well opening against this lot. May as well open with Pujara and stick him in at 3 or lower down the order.

I wasn’t assuming that at all.
Accepting all of what you’ve said, if you can’t bat with some sort of tempo then you ought not be picked. You can’t just be passive and expect to make runs. The game doesn’t work that way. If a bowler knows he won’t be attacked if he drops short, gives you width or over pitches then he may as well already have got you out. Because you aren’t going to damage him.

The young fella who opened tonight played and missed plenty and gave a chance. But when they over pitched or gave him width he went after them. Immediately the bowlers have less margin for error. It’s batsmanship.
