2024–25 NZ domestic season

Jess Kerr's batting form in this Super Smash has been pretty remarkable. I always thought she'd be a useful lower-order hitter at best for the White Ferns, but maybe she could develop into a proper all-rounder.
Melie also started batting quite far down the order too and now is a proper all-rounder - though maybe that was just due to how young she was when she debuted

Greenwood dropped for Bracewell... so now you've got Tashkoff, Bracewell and Younghusband for spin. Hartshorn, Sears, van Beek and Abbas for seam. At least Johnson's down to bat at 4 this week. I'm once again confused about the balance though. There must be the assumption that Tashkoff and Abbas are better batsmen than Greenwood. It's all a bit confusing.

Still, hopefully Tashkoff goes well. Just not sure he'll get a chance to bowl in this line-up.

He played their previous game too. Glad they have stuck with Hartshorn after a tough final over last game.

Greenwood made 48 off 30 in his only innings of the season too. I get that Abbas is a PONI and Tashkoff was primarily a batsman in youth cricket but it's definitely still weird, especially since Greenwood isn't exactly ageing out either.

Fun to see the most aggressive running team in the competition face off the best fielding side in the world.

My impression is he might be the better keeper of the two anyway.
Yeah I agree, but if Hay's keeping is good and only Hay is good enough on batting alone I don't think they'll be bending over backwards to play a keeper who isn't.

Speaking of keeping, that was a great stop from Chu.

It's a good fantasy that both he and Hay are good enough batsmen for a permanent spot, though yes it's unlikely. Would be very unfortunate for Chu if he doesn't get a chance for NZ at all. Unless Hay starts producing Gilchrist-like performances, I guess.

Blundell swinging at ghosts. I know it's a different format, but I don't know how anyone can look at him right now and think he's the best keeper bat in the country.

I must've not been paying attention, didn't know Ashley Noffke was coaching Otago now. Might be just what Otago need. Magicking up another couple of batsmen out of thin air would help too.
