Looks like Maddinson is going through one of those really crap stretches he sometimes has again

EDIT: Oh dear Smith. Only two types of leave, and that one was definitely of the second variety

The umpiring is a serious problem at state level. There’s only so many chances you’re getting to bat

Must be so frustrating

Yeah, as much as it can always tend to loook worse when someone gets struck playing no shot, that one definitely looked a bit high, even more so on replay
It definitely wasn't high, you can see that from the side-on. Question is whether it came back enough. 50-50 for me. Either way you don't leave those ones

Fortunately, and quite appropriately, Victoria rarely has to worry about having test players absent. And nor should it.

Was it England like a decade ago that had every single promising young batsman be a keeper one way or another? It's not ideal tbh.

Yep, Philippe has made 45* & 70* and taken 9 catches, but he's not the talk of the town with Carey (42 & 123*), Inglis (101) and even Peirson (94)

It's still happening now. If a batter got injured on the current Tour, they could field a batting unit with 4 keepers (Pope, Duckett, Smith, Cox).
