2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

So the candidates for the vacant opener spot gave us this:

Harris - 26,16
Bancroft - 8, 2
Konstas - 2, 43
Maddinson - 19, 15
Renshaw - 2, 21
Whiteman - 13, 4

It seems no-one wants it 😆

Webster needs to bowl a bit fuller. With no short leg the batsmen can either just leave those on length or tickle it down to fine leg if it's a bit straighter.

Where does Bancroft go from here after scores of 0, 0, 8, 2, so 10 runs @ 2.50 in the Shield. Including county cricket, Bancroft now has 97 runs @ 12.13 in his last 5 FC games.

How does he do it so easily for years and then when it really matters he falls horribly out of form?

With 3 openers selected in the A squad does Bancroft even deserve to be a lock at opener (word is Harris & Bancroft will open with Konstas at 3)

It’s a shocking effort from all of them bar Konstas. I favoured Bancroft (what a joke) but not now. All 3 should be canned. It’s between Konstas and Whiteman imo and I’m sure the latter will flum any meagre chance he has.

So it’s Konstas or picking a half way decent mid order player out of the Shield, Mad dog or Marsh.

Don’t know where I saw or heard it but Jack Clayton really does feel like the Shield’s answer to Shaun Marsh’s Test career, lol.

Qld going to get done here, McAndrew ripping through them
Thought I'd unintentionally did Gambhiring with a 100 run partnership just after I posted it. It's definitely all over for Qld now though 😉

At the end of the day, mediocrity always reasserts itself. He had a patch of great form for two summers, now he's in crap form, and he's not fundamentally good enough to rise above that.
