2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

Speaking of injuries, anyone know why McAndrew didn't bat?
From CA website

"NSW only needed to take nine wickets, with SA quick Nathan McAndrew hurt and unable to bat a second time after injuring his hand while attempting to field off his own bowling"

Ashton Turner coming on and bowling more overs than him as well makes me think he probably picked up an injury.
Must be. Haven't seen a single ball of todays play (was at the Adelaide 500) buut even if I don't really rate Agar as a red ball bowler that still makes more sense than WA just not bowling him

How many injuries would Bird be away from the Test side? Seems like the selectors have well and truly left him behind, he's not young, but he could do a job in a pinch if we're desperate rather than debuting someone like Doggett or O'Neil in a must win BGT match

Well you have Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood, then Neser, Boland, Bartlett, Richardson, Morris, Johnson, McAndrew, Abbott, O'Neil....

So at least 10 injuries for Bird to play?

Mate at least 5 of those blokes are injured most of the time anyway. I would still consider Bird in an emergency ahead of a few of them too tbh

Heard he was carrying some kind of injury last season that was affecting his action and making him dart the ball in or something to that effect. Nice to see him back in the wickets across formats.
He's still darting almost everything in. He looks much better when he flights it, because he can get a lot of drift.

Not entirely sure what the point of Tasmania batting on is here considering how much game time has been lost already
By batting on for 99.2 overs of the 100 overs of bonus points they ended up with 2.61 points. Well worth it seeing match will be only 1 point for a draw

This is a fundamental problem with the Shield scoring system tbh

Speaking of table, Qld need to score at least 318 to stay off the bottom of the table (assuming a draw)

cricinfo isn't the place to go to for domestic coverage ever since CA's website took over live coverage of domestic cricket in the mid-2000s......but the points table is really good: https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/sheffield-shield-2024-25-1444468/points-table-standings - I don't think it's been like this before?

acts as a fixture, a repository for scorecards and a team performance trend. really good stuff.
It was the brown nosed gnome incident that motivated CA to bring all that back in house right?

A bit late, but Matt Renshaw reminding selectors what a real opener can do 😉
He's only 28. I assumed he was in his early thirties like Harris and Bancroft. Given that all had a difficult first spell in test cricket I'd take the guy a few years younger of the three.
