Imagine Wagner playing in one of these in a few year’s time. People will die.
Jordie Barrett obviously has although most of them were probably first XI players at High School. Natural hand/eye ability. Israel Dagg could apparently bowl at 140 when he was 16. Jason Spice was in the ND team when Vettori first came on the scene. Will Jordan sounds like he was a good batsman.Another way of looking at it I guess is that the organisers have done a good job of tracking down rugby guys with legit cricket ability
In his last year in 2015 he demonstrated his class, hitting 102 not out from 83 balls against Palmerston North Boys' at the Gillette Cup finals.
His First XI coach Matt Parr told Stuff at the time it was one of the finest schoolboy innings he had witnessed.
Yeah, TV1. I think last year it was the most viewed cricket game. You can watch a replay on demand.Didn't catch a single ball. Must have been on tv1 or sky?
On behalf of everyone preparing to go out and bowl just like that today, I’m offendedDon't get me started on How To Dad's over.
Yeah, he was in the under 19 team with Fleming that won a 'test' series over Australia. At ND he had Matthew Hart and then Vettori as left arm spin competition and with Super Rugby starting he focused on that.I actually thought they were joking about Jason Spice having played first class cricket. I don’t recall his relatively rare status as a modern dual sportsman (even if at FC rather than international level) coming up during his rugby career.
Spice was at ND,in late 90s, when they had 4 young left arm spinners all at same time.I actually thought they were joking about Jason Spice having played first class cricket. Yep, Jefferson and Larsen putting the squeeze on at the Basin in the middle overs was peak late-90s/early-00s Firebirds.Spice was at ND,in late 90s, when they had 4 young left arm spinners all at same time.
Vetorri, Mathew Hart, Spice, Mark Jefferson. Jefferson was also a dual sportsman in that he played rugby for Poverty Bay (for ages, or maybe actually as young man and then when older and returned to Bay).
They all played for NZ or NZ U19.
I think Jefferson moved to Wellington. Played Firebirds? And played prem club rugby.
Wouldn't surprise me if he played till this T20 World Cup, didn't actually get picked in it because he hadn't made a score in forever, then hung up the boots.Wouldn't surprise me if he played till this t20 World Cup then hung up the boots.
