I mean, isn't it better for it to be on youtube than on Spark since more people can watch it that way? And despite Spark having rights to it, they are opening it up to get more viewership?

They could have just played it on Spark and Duke if they wanted to do that.

People have no patience to watch on youtube. Although if you have smart TV or iptv you can watch youtube on big screen but don't think everyone is tech savvy. Besides NZC cameras aren't state of the art as compared to Spark ones. The NZC cameras are from the early 2000s borrowed or bought second hand :-)

I'm already subscribed to spark so would expect to see all games covered to be on spark. There are a lot of things to like about spark, no issues there but would be nice to have coverage of all games on spark if it's being covered already.

I’ve enjoyed the Spark coverage! Just find it a bit frustrating they originally said every Super Smash game would be televised, then backtracked and pulled out of showing a few, and now of course one of the few they’re not showing probably ends up being the most anticipated one for the general public with Williamson’s return.

Yeah, it is frustrating, though I think overall we are still getting more games than on sky, who really seemed to have given up on it. I wish more people were interested, but I still feel like as a cricket fan you don't have it too bad.

Well that’s what it said here anyway: https://i.stuff.co.nz/sport/cricket...and-cricket-broadcasting-rights-for-six-years

I asked them about it on twitter when the schedule was announced and they said covid had meant they had to cut back.
In addition, TVNZ is partnering with NZC to provide live, free-to-air coverage on TVNZ 1 of the first T20 international of each men's and women's series, together with more than a third of the men's and women's Dream11 Super Smash competition on TVNZ 1 and DUKE channels.

"All Black Caps and White Ferns games, all men's and women's Super Smash games and the Ford Trophy one-day final will be streamed on the Spark platform."

I'm kinda liking this, it's like a little taste of life in the early 80's. Kinda half expecting to flip on the news and see Muldoon chundering his guts out in the halls of the beehive.

Canterbury could certainly have used Bruce Edgar to open and safely see off the first 18 overs.

That was a rather sedate game of cricket. Not high octane enough. Don't think there was lot on it for the bowlers but kings didn't have the firepower to counter knights bowling.
