Well I think I'll just stop watching Cricket, we basically have two Champions Trophy tournaments and that has put the second last nail in the coffin of Irish Cricket,

now Irish players will have to go to England not just for Test Cricket but for ODI World Cup participation,

oh but wait we are allowed the scraps from the Cricket table, we have more teams in the 20/20 World Cup, Haroon Lorgat please f**k off,

never felt so low about Cricket as I do now ...

I fail to see the boards motivation to reduce the numbers. One of their goals is to promote cricket worldwide part of which is chance to play wc for all member countries. The usual stuff all sport boards do.
More teams in wc should equal more fans, more broadcasting, more money, right?

Given that the ICC seem to want to hack away at the few oppertunities the associates have got rather than actually do anything to support them right now, perhaps it's not the best time. They ought to be worried about their ODI status.

IMO Ireland should be applying for Full Member status anyway. They're at the stage in their development where a) they need to be playing the top nations on a more regular basis, and b) they need protection against Full Members nicking their best players.

it's something like £6 million difference. Nowhere near ready for test status though. So much in fighting between the counties to agree on anything. First move would be to bring back the inter pros or something similar.

Applied for test status about a year ago. I don't think there was ever an official announcement from that, but both Cricket Ireland and the ICC sorta agreed it wasn't time.

Bad decision. 12 would have been perfect.
Spreading cricket worldwide should be the priority. And who takes T20 results seriously? Its a massively overrated format.
Its like beach cricket, very few remember Neth beating Eng in t20 but in an ODI its more significant
