Stirling is contracted to Ireland so he won't be going and he doesn't strike me as the type of player to turn his back on Ireland, and I would hope Dockrell doesn't either but you never know...

the best people to protest are the actual irish players if the ecb had a hand in it, then the irish players have to take a stand and turn down ecb contracts for the benefit of irish cricket as a whole.

i still think the whole thing is ahack and short sighted.

I don't actually mind the '92 style format where all teams play each other.

But there should be qualification for all.

nzc boss justin vaughn was interviewed and he approved of the 10 team wc format also... it seems a large portion of the icc members pushed for it... its awful to think nz played a part in it also.

Seems silly that Zimbabwe are in ahead of Ireland even though the Irish team is higher on the rankings.

Yep

Zimbabwe are a full member of the ICC and therefore guaranteed participation

Ireland are merely an associate and therefole not eligible

Thats crazy, Ireland could pull of some amazing wins and get ahead of Bangladesh and WI, and be 8 or 9th but still not qualify, that is grossly unfair. Maybe they will excel at T20.

I just stumbled upon the news as I was about to go to sleep. I dont think I'll be sleeping for quite a while now I'm so pissed off and quite frankly gutted.

Some of my favourite Irish sporting moments have come from following this Irish Cricket team in the past two world cups. How is anyone who recently discovered cricket in this country supposed to respect the game after a decesion. I've been a fan of the game since 2007 WC and would of loved to travel round the world and catch a few games when I'm done with college but after this decision I will be bycotting all international cricket.

I think all the major boards have collective responsibility in this abysmal event. If ECB is the primary driving force behind it, the case is strongest as they stand directly to benefit from Ireland's non participation by getting access to their players. Regarding other boards, I am not sure what exactly are they gaining from this.

It's interesting that the 2015 WC will be between the ten full members only, whereas the 2019 WC will be between ten teams on the basis of qualification. Seems to me to suggest that the ICC has no intention of elevating Ireland or anyone else to full member status prior to 2015, as it would look ****ing stupid (more so than it does already) to have a full member not in the WC despite outranking another member.

Simply pathetic decision. What is the use of calling it a World CUp. What is the use of the huge ammount of money going in World Cricket league when in the end you do not play in the world cup. I am sure Ireland and Afghans would have displaced Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to get their spots. BD and Zim would have been the nations to not go for a qualifying tournament. Bloody looser ICC. Why watch cricket now. Extremely angry and sad. Cannot simply do any thing :(
