How many Tournaments or Series have reserve days?meatspx said:2003 was an absolute shambles, worst WC ever. No reserve day for rain? What a bloody joke.
what about Dilhara,Malinga,Nissanka-they're all good bowlers.Scaly piscine said:And who do SL and India have? Vaas (who's already 31) and Pathan respectively... and that's about it really.
Also anyone remotely decent looking *will* get games for Bangladesh.
When it concerns the WC, cricket's flagship event, and matches where a guaranteed 2 points against minnows can be lost due to the weather, then its vital. Teams have more than a couple of days in between matches anyway so it can be organised.marc71178 said:How many Tournaments or Series have reserve days?
It's not practical and would've added about 50% or more to the length of it!
They're just bowlers who've been picked to complete an XI because they've only got 10 written down and need another pace bowler, they're not remotely proven.dinu23 said:what about Dilhara,Malinga,Nissanka-they're all good bowlers.
yeah right! how old are u anyway? 10!Scaly piscine said:They're just bowlers who've been picked to complete an XI because they've only got 10 written down and need another pace bowler, they're not remotely proven.
Go on then icon of maturity, tell us what Dilhara, Malinga and Nissanka have done to show they're proven Test/ODI class and not one of the last names written in to the SL XI.dinu23 said:yeah right! how old are u anyway? 10!
He might be a good up and coming bowler, but he's still up and coming, not there yet and has played on some fairly friendly pitches so far.burkey_1988 said:Leave Malinga out of it ... I reckon he's a good up and coming bowler. I was very impressed when he came out to Aus a couple of years ago and his figures look good v WI
i hope that you are right.chekmeout said:My personal opinion is the substitute rule will be out before the 2007 World Cup. Powerplay overs will remain, but the entire substitute rule won't last....
That's my opinion
ok lets say Dilahara, Malinga, Nissanka are not 'proven'. as far as I know they don't have to prove anything to beat Bangladesh. anyways, how did u narrow it down to SL and Ind as the only chances Bangladesh will have in the next WC.Scaly piscine said:Go on then icon of maturity, tell us what Dilhara, Malinga and Nissanka have done to show they're proven Test/ODI class and not one of the last names written in to the SL XI.
I think it was to do with the fact that Bangladesh are in a group with India and Sri Lanka. The discussion was on which minnow might make it through...dinu23 said:ok lets say Dilahara, Malinga, Nissanka are not 'proven'. as far as I know they don't have to prove anything to beat Bangladesh. anyways, how did u narrow it down to SL and Ind as the only chances Bangladesh will have in the next WC.
what makes u think Pakistan, even England can do better than SL or India.
England haven't won a single WC.
Punch Above their Weight ? I think that would be a apt description for Sri Lanka Who has played Test Cricket for a relatively much shorter time in addition to being a third world country- Yet they won the WC in 1996 which NZ has not done so far.Blaze said:But they always punch above their weight. No one ever expects them to do much in world cups yet in 92 they were the best side and should have won the tournament.
In 99 they made the semis again when they wern't expected to do much and in 03 most probably would have made the semis if they had have gone to Kenya.. and if Michael Bevan had decided not to turn up when they played AUS
scraped through?Scaly piscine said:in 1999 they only just scraped through both group stages before getting beaten easily in the semis.
Yea, also NZ 'punching above their weight' is contradicted somewhat by "in 92 they were the best side and should have won the tournament"Legglancer said:Punch Above their Weight ? Dont Kid yourself they were not the best side in 1992 ..... look at the record's ...Pakistan Was !
LMAO, what a good joke.dinu23 said:what about Dilhara,Malinga,Nissanka-they're all good bowlers.
err no. NZ was by far the best side in that world cup and if it werent for perhaps the biggest stroke of luck in WCC history, pakistan wouldnt even have made the semis. and if martin crowe hadnt pulled his hamstring they wouldnt have gotten past the semis anyways.Legglancer said:Dont Kid yourself they were not the best side in 1992 ..... look at the record's ...Pakistan Was !
Malinga is a pretty good bowler, imo. He's awkward to face, fairly sharp, and he's actually quite accurate given his unorthodox action. I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be fairly successful in the long-term, if he stays fit.tooextracool said:LMAO, what a good joke.
well from what i've seen hes either going to bowl complete garbage or fairly well. which is what happens with anyone who has his slingy action.FaaipDeOiad said:Malinga is a pretty good bowler, imo.
