Another one for Bevan!

Unbeaten on 104 overnight, and that's 1213 runs @ 101.83 this season, with seven centuries in just 8 matches to tie the Hayden/Elliot record. If he was ever going to get a look-in for a test recall he's going to get it now.
And he has alot more batting to go this season. He could put up some record breaking figures the way he is going. (What is the record for a Pura Cup/ Sheffield sheild season?) He certainly is the best buy by any state for a long time.

Maybe he is a chance for a recall to the OD team with Lehmann out and Katich not firing down the order.

Matthew Elliott last season, with 1381 runs at 81.23.

I don't think Bevan will play for Australia again.

Katich will not be a permanent member of the side when Hayden returns. Hussey is doing a tremendous job down the order, yet to be dismissed and has a healthy strike rate.

I'd say Bracken would be as well.
I think the selectors would look past his fluke 7-12 and realise it has made his figures look better than they are. With a squad of only 15 and Australia having a regular 13 man squad there won't be too many other playets to fit in.

Yeah I'm not saying he's in real contention, but if there were enough injuries I think he would be more likely to go than Lewis. Probably after the main four Tait would be first choice in case of injury, and then probably Clarke or Bracken if there was third injury to one of the top 5.

Took 2/88, and isn't in contention for an Ashes spot...
Tell the Victorian media that... They'll have you hung, drawn & quartered.

Really? Well, I can't see how Lewis could make a legitimate claim for a test or OD spot honestly. There's more than half a dozen pacers ahead of him.

round 9 has been falling perfectly for queensland.

WA have to chase down 500 in their second innings against SA

NSW must win outright or else they're out of the running, and given the rain in Hobart, the fact they're still behind by 20 and a result their way is unlikely, they're out of it.

Queensland batted so slowly (with the help of rain) to ensure that Victoria had to declare behind if they wanted to try and get the outright win that they need to keep in touch....gift two points for Queensland.

Not only that, but assuming round 9 finishes with Qld and WA both on 36 points, then the game between the two at the Gabba will decide who hosts the final. Given that Langer will be over in NZ and the possibility that Hussey will stay over there, and that Hopes and Symonds will return to strengthen the batting & bowling, you'd have to be placing bets on Queensland at the moment.

Although, I do think that if the final is held at WA they'll be preparing the flattest wicket possible so that it is very difficult to get batsmen out and force a result.

Qld go to the top of the table. Temporarily at least, they will fall to second if W.A. get outright points. Victoria were 2-277 when they lost the wicket of Arnberger, but were all out for 335. Arnberger & Hodge both got centuries, and the next highest run scorer was Warne with 15. Queensland finally break their hoo-doo against Victoria.

Marsh is finally playing an innings of importance! He's looking very good. He's on 61* currently.
This game could be close. 6/371 with Campbell out to a crappy shot at a crucial time. Better add that the asking run rate is just on 4 at this stage.
