Joe Root looks like any number of weed addicts who will start talking to you at the club after three beers about how it doesn't make sense that marijuana is legal but its wrong to blow weed smoke into your pregnant wife's face.
On my travels i've found most so-called 'weed addicts' are actually just addicted to tobacco and that's why they put so much of it in their joints.

That is just WRONG!

On the subject of hardly anyone being able to bat in England recently, who was the last international batsman who was really, really good at the leave? Anyone since peak Cook+Trott?
Nobody left like Trescothick and Russell who looked like they were playing at it every time.

Not been a decent one for ages, maybe because of so much T20 that nobody looks to leave it alone now and always looks to get bat on ball.

I don't like Smith opening the face that much on the drive. He's falling for the deliberately-left gap

This has actually been a good competitive first hour and how Test Cricket should be, and this thread is more concerned with anti-wrinkle cream.

Yeah all of Bancroft, Burns and Harris are equally as mediocre as each other. Burns the most likely to make you pay but also likely to get owned the most. In seaming conditions I'd pick Harris (as at least I can see him getting starts) but Burns makes the most sense in Australia.
Its why you can sort of understand Khawaja opening and Labuachagne at 3. I wanted Harris to play tbh.

Will be wonderful to watch the class of '05 being driven around the ground in an open top Murray Mints van at lunch time.

Uh, Pujara? He's better at that than both were.
He's not particularly great at it imo. Not a good leaver on length. He often gets into trouble trying to jab down on deliveries which are going a foot over off. Doesn't play many dumb flashy shots which is why he finds a way.

haha yes, every batsman averages less in the channel than in all the pie spots. funny that.
My favourite one was the ones during the world cup where they showed that the relevant batsman was worse against a good length. No ****, that's why it's been a known thing for over 150 years.

Broad bowling quicker here than he generally has recently, though he does tend to pull out these faster spells every now and then.

i made a post commenting on how much i was enjoying the cricket and then Dan gave me a profile warning, so instead i'm just gonna talk about banal stuff like how impressive Peter Siddle's vegan diet is

Leaving on line is more important than leaving on length though. Even in Australia these days.

No way should Marnus bat ahead of Smith, but yeah. Harris is definitely a better option than Bancroft.

In any case with Harris it feels like we're talking him down based on one bad Test...which could happen to anyone. Apart from that he did fine.
