Can some Indian posters clarify how/ when blokes go by which name on their shirts etc? I get bokes named Singh going by their first names, but eg why does Agarwal get "Mayank" on his shirt, while Pujara gets his last name? Kohli used to use his last name, now gets Virat.
Both Agarwal and Pujara are surnames but Agarwal is an extremely common surname and Pujara is a fairly rare one.

My educated guess is that growing up within cricket teams, Agarwal would be referred to as Mayank to distinguish from the other agarwals while Pujara would probably be called Pujara because it's more concise than his first name. By this point, I'm guessing that's become the shirt preference.
