NZ were never going to "free up" today. They ditched the Munro approach last week.So much for NZ freeing up. Guptill stuck on his crease tentatively that whole innings allowing Indian openers to bowl at him.
Looks like he doesn't know what his role is.Gup looks a bit shot. Sad to see.
And he almost dropped itGee the commentators love to blow Kohli.
Pretty regulation slip catch ffs
We're just surprised the **** didn't drop it okGee the commentators love to blow Kohli.

It has been, yes. One legside-ish ball Guptill should've found the gap, but otherwise accurate with movement and the batsman needed to make something. Which Guptill was completely unable to do.Good bowling.
TBF he was really up against it opening in these conditions. Obviously you don't make decisions at the toss based on one or two players but asking a lot of your out-of-form openers to back it up.Good bowling.
I don't know what's got into Guptill's head.
Possibly doesn't help having Nicholls at the other end, which is why Munro was there I suppose. Take a bit of pressure off, supposedly.
yeah i agree. guptill looks like he's playing for his spot and cracking, rather than a guy with a billion runs given a licence to smash.Looks like he doesn't know what his role is.
It is a very bizarre coaching/captaincy directive, at least from the outside. It really doesn't look as if many of them know what they're supposed to be doing.
? it's a really flat pitch.TBF he was really up against it opening in these conditions. Obviously you don't make decisions at the toss based on one or two players but asking a lot of your out-of-form openers to back it up.
Both Guptill & Munro had a good start with that 10 wicket win over Sri Lanka. And both have had an absolute shocker of a WC from there.Amazed he averaged 20, tbh.
It's going to look flat when India bat on it..? it's a really flat pitch.
I get the carry is good and there's a touch of movement but run-scoring should be really easy on a pitch like this. Looks like it's coming onto the bat beautifully.
This is ODI cricket.
Gotta find a way to get the bowlers off their lengths.
Bit early to be talking about this right? Anyway, wouldn't be dropping him and quite confident he'll make it to 2023.So what are we doing with Guptill after the WC? Is he worth keeping around or do we start preparing for 2023?
