Umm this thread isn't really heading any where. Also, in the 90s, after so many matches, people said the games were fixed. Until there is proof, I don't see the point in speculating x was fixed or y was not fixed.

But remember last time they had one of those Super Series, Rest of the World lost quite comprehensively.

I've been sorting through loads of old VHS tapes of old films from the 90's. On one of the tapes from 1999 there is a short Channel 5 news headlines programme.
The main headline of the day centres around the 1999 World Cup Final and a suggestion that Pakistan threw the match, there is even an interview with Wasim Akram refuting the allegations. I remember little about the game other than it finishing about 2pm after a very low Pakistan total which included Inzy getting a bad decision from umpire David Shephard.
Until I saw this old news summary I had no idea that any such suggestion had been made.

There was a scandal going around at the time as to whether or not it was fixed, as such i still believe at least 2 of the pakistan games in that world cup were fixed but that is rather irrelevant. I cant see why anyone would fix a game as important as the final of the world cup, but then again when it comes to Wasim Akram, i can never trust anything that hes ever done especially after the match fixing judge claims that he had a 'soft spot' for him.

Just like we should discuss allegations that Mark Waugh and Shane Warne match fixed and the possibility that the Aussies may have thrown the 1994 Australia v Pakistan test at Karachi ?
