I'm still not entirely certain if either team will actually want to win this game, assuming that SA beat England.

Assuming SA win, I think India would rather want to play Australia in a semi than in a final.

So winning the last game would be important.

Best case scenario from NZ point of view

SA win, they lose to India and play SA in the semis. Let India take care of the Aussies and play India in the final. Gives them a better chance of winning the whole thing. I don't see NZ beating Australia in any knockout scenario.

Both teams will be resting their best players so you can't read too much into the result, that would probably be Ravindra, Latham and O'Rourke for NZ,

Hope New Zealand smash India so that Australia doesn't have to fly to Dubai

A definite contender for the best rivalry in world cricket today, even if it isn’t portrayed that way. Another nice continuation of the thread running parallel to the careers of Kohli and Williamson. Bring it on.

I thought the two 2023 WC games between
them were an accurate summary of how the two sides compare in the ODI format today, though NZ’s bowling is a shade better than what it was then. We’ll also get a better idea of where NZ really stands, done pretty much everything right but haven’t been tested well enough either till now.
