12th Match - India v New Zealand

Not Terrible
Some crazy stats for this one

India have won the last 5 ODIs vs NZ, NZ won the 5 before that. So in a best of 11 this is the decider.

This is the first time we've played India in the Champions Trophy since the final in 2000

Each of those wins was by the home team. So yes, a decider at an appropriately neutral venue.

Pretty ballsy of Santner to field first, chasing against a formidable Indian attack. Conventional wisdom seems to be things improve for batting under lights in Dubai though.

Dropped, surely, or do the comms say otherwise?
Haha don't know but he's probably dropped. But when have we ever dropped an opener with an average of nearly 45 and good SR
It's a good problem to have but reckon someone down the order prob has to drop out for the semis. If Young fails he's the easy scapegoat.

Hard to know if both teams will want to win this, the winner plays Australia so I guess that depends on if they think they will be easier to beat than SA,

Don’t think anyone down the order is dropping out unless it’s Mitchell, whose versatility is too much of a factor to ignore. From Phillips onwards you need all the bowling you can get. Ravindra’s left armers don’t make up for it.

Would have loved to see Rohit vs Henry part 3 under lights, but should be an enjoyable little subplot all the same.

Yeah it's a tricky one. There's always GP who hasn't bowled much lately.

The movement will probably disappear soon but would have liked them to start off with a second slip, both these bowlers are the sort that likes to get the batsman driving.

Wasn't he already dropped? Or was he injured and then unavailable due to T20 and then rested? IDK seems like Will Young is the incumbent to me

Did....did the ground just play a snippet of Zed's Renegade Fighter?

He was initially away for league T20, when he came back Rachin was injured from the blow to the head in the outfield so slotted back in. Young will/should probably make way if he doesn’t score in this game, unfortunately. Take away the century and it’s been a string of single digit scores
