Yeah Athers with the good oil here. Afghanistan's quicks are good enough to cause problems on their day which is fantastic but lets not get carried away here.
I'd be willing to bet that Afghanistan has more fast bowling talent than India or Sri Lanka.. Something about the Pathans and fast bowling that you can't deny.

i'd say bangladeshi quicks not called mortaza are good enough to cause problems on their day but barring the rubel hattrick i don't think they've ever had a day.
Rubel is actually pretty decent in ODIs.

I do think Afghanistan have a better pace attack than Bangladesh but not by that much as I'd still have them well below Sri Lanka.

I'm just trying to keep the conversation going on long enough till Hamid falls over the boundary fence and injures himself again.

right, hopefully going down the farm for ten minutes will mean another wicket will fall when i come in the door like it has almost every other time.

Well fairly obvious to suggest that 'on their day' with the 'optimum' talent selected that pretty much all the main sides barring BD and Ireland (and other minnows) have a better pace attack than Afghanistan.

But so far this WC, Afghanistan have looked very good.

Fair enough it's probably down to extended preparation and good form, but shouldn't that be something all the sides should be working towards? I find it weird to use that as a reason to discount how impressive Afghanistan has looked.

Really think that Afghanistan should be trying to force home the advantage by continuing with the seamers. If the game goes to 50 overs, Sri Lanka are likely to win - so they need to make sure they don't waste the 10 overs that their key seamers have available. Probably bring in a short cover to add a bit of pressure to the batsman too. You can't afford to let things drift in this brave new two-ball ODI world.

I think your confusing the arguments. No one is saying Afghanistan aren't performing well or are lucky to. But that doesn't make them 'stronger' than another countries Pace attack. Which is the argument.

Not trying to discredit how good they've looked at all. How well they've bowled in this tournament and how good their bowling attack is are very different debates though, and people had started to talk about the latter.

Hmm okay. Point I was making that, based on current performances, I'd rank Aghanistan's pace attack above all those nations. Not that they are 'stronger' overall.

So good that Shapoor and Steyn timed there bowling bowling perfectly so we could all watch every delivery.

I must say that the decision to exclude the Associate nations from the next CWC has made supporting them in this one a lot more enjoyable. Will be rapt to see Afghanistan get up here.

Yeah, they need to get one of these two in the next 5 overs. Seriously apart from the old guard and Mathews, SL's batting has some serious problems.
