I think all of those pace attacks are arguably better than Afghanistan except the Irish.

They're promising and they have some great basic skills but I think we're getting ahead of ourselves. They're better in NZ because they've been playing here so much lately. They know the line and length to bowl on NZ pitches. I suspect you'd see them get taken to task a bit more in Australia and they'd get picked apart in Asia.

They're definitely ODI quality but pretty much everyone has an optimum pace attack that when in form would be better.

*Bangers don't have a better new ball attack, but better pace attack. #qualifier

Brainless batting there, but gotta love Hamid
what have bangladesh ever done to be called a batter pace attack than your average Wellington club cricket side?

Mortaza can bowl and Rubel can bowl at 140. that's bangladesh's entire contribution to fast bowling in 15 years. Plus they're filthy chokers in general.

Are you suggest they don't deserve it? Its easy to say in hindsight which teams will make it and which won't, yes on current form and teams its likely that AUS/NZ and IND/SA make their respective groups, but it only takes 1 loss and suddenly things become interesting, you could easily have 2-3 teams tied on points and suddenly NRR and how you've played (how well or how badly) suddenly means a lot more.
Not for a moment! They could be keel-hauled across the Tasman for the quality of cricket they've offered up so far, but we still have 30 group matches, five involving England, left, which is far too many to be writing off as dead rubbers.

You could have the scenario you describe, sure, but I think the scrap for places - especially with competitive associate nations, long may it continue - is much more likely to be tightest around the 3-win mark and the scrap for 3rd/4th/5th than a scrap for 2nd/3rd.

I'd like to see a format similar to the NRL where if you finish 1st in your group, you get the added bonus of having a life if you lose the first match in the Play-Offs. I think it would add a nice dynamic to teams chasing top spot in the group.
This could work
pool a 1 vs pool b 2 winner in semi
Pool a 2 vs pool b 1 winner in semi

Pool a 3 vs pool b 4 winner plays loser of game 2, loser out
Pool a 4 vs pool b 3 winner plays loser of game 1, loser out

I'm all for a bit of a laugh and jibe but jizz is probably not the term to use on a family forum.

Maybe something more like

"The only wood the Bangladesh quicks are likely to damage is Athlai's on a lonely Saturday night"

Little more tactful.

yeah that's promising for Afghanistan. minnows with talent, work ethic and care in their preparation? they won't be minnows for long.
hope afghanistan can get the win...it'll be good for their profile...

1 more wicket..then they can start to go for the win

Keep in mind they've pretty much been here since they qualified. Andy Moles doing a fine job.

For once.

Yeah Athers with the good oil here. Afghanistan's quicks are good enough to cause problems on their day which is fantastic but lets not get carried away here.

Betfair says Afg win 29%
Numbers say 64% (admittedly higher than it should be because it doesn't know it's Afg bowling)

Time to get in?

i'd say bangladeshi quicks not called mortaza are good enough to cause problems on their day but barring the rubel hattrick i don't think they've ever had a day.
